Climbing the screen

I just noticed tonight one of my leos hanging and walking around upside down on the screen top to her tank. When she finished she got down alright back on her hammock. It is pretty funny to watch but I'm worried she's going to fall or get a toe stuck and hurt herself. But I don't want to try to lift the lid either to get her because I'm afraid she might fall. Does anyone else's leo do this??

weird when I first saw this thread I figured it was about cresties. but I've never herd of leo's climbing on the screen top. Just so you know cresties do it constantly and I gets very old listing to that all night!

I wish I could have gotten a picture of her, I tried but didn't have any batteries for the camera. It was really funny though. She stood up on her hammock and then was hanging from the screen and dangling her legs, then she got all 4 legs up there and was just walking around from one end of the tank to the other, upside down. I was just watching her hoping she didn't fall, lol.

One of my males does it all the time. He has a really tall hide and he likes to climb right up it and either scratch at the screen or climb on it. He'll try to climb to the side and then you hear a "plop" and he's back on the ground looking confused. I too worry sometimes that he'll hurt himself but so far he seems to be ok... Taking the tall hide out isn't really much of an option because he loves it so much and won't use any others. He's so stubborn >.<

I did have one gecko years ago who somehow managed to climb up, reach the screen of one of the kritter keeper cages with the sliding out top and get out the 1" gap I'd accidentally left.

A few days ago I moved a pair of hatchlings, not more than a week old, out of the rack bin to my partitioned 20 long. When I checked, one had wedged herself under my poop tile into a gap between the ceramic tile and the wall. The other had scaled the partition and was hanging from the top of it. The funny thing was that I moved these geckos to the partition because one had managed to climb out of the rack and make it into the other room.

Before Loki got sick, she was absolutly in love with her silk plants I put into her tank. There was always the constant russling when she was playing in the leaves and stuff. On more than one occasion I've found her hanging upside down with a "Look Ma!" look on her face. She was even scratching at the screen to get out when I walked over. lol.

:I have had mine do that as I am "cooking " their dinner. I will leave a cup of mealworms
on top iof the cage to gutload and Comet and Amber can be found off and on in the 24 hours it takes to gutload sneaking up to the screen wher the cup is.

I think somewhere we have a picture of Miss Fancy Pants pulling the hanging leo stunt. If I find it I'll post it. We were laughing really hard when we found her like that.

That is just to funny!! I'm sure if she fell from only 12 high then she'd be ok, geckos are pretty tough, tougher than most people give them credit for. Wow, I just cant stop laughing at those pics, they are SO funny :main_laugh:

True but it still doesn't stop most of us from worrying when we see or hear one hit the ground. XD

But those pics are funny, mine always does it when the lights are out and he thinks no one is paying attention:main_laugh:
