Do you cull the problem parent, so this cant be passed on in the future?

Yes, back and sideways as far as I can.

I don't see anything slippery about this slope. It has stairs carved into it for ease of use and a very gradual plane, it is suitable for casual hiking and has magnificent views when you get to the top.
