Do they really only ovulate once a year?

Spike was ovulating so I put her in with Jazzy about two months ago. She became gravid but absorbed her eggs instead of laying them. Now her belly is tan and smooth again--no pink at all. I usually catch them when they're ovulating and I've never had a problem breeding a female of appropriate size, but I don't know if I can with her now. Someone mentioned they only ovulate once a year..Do I have any hope of breeding her at all this year or was that one time it?

As far as I can tell, they ovulate for one period of time a year. I have one gecko that ovulated last season, laid 2 clutches, then took a 2 month break or so without visibly ovulating or laying, then laid 8 more clutches. It can happen.

chances are if she is done ovulating she will not ovulate again until her next ovuation which is generally a year from her first one.

Hm..bummer for me. I really needed her. I'll leave her in with her mate, as they get along well, and hope for a miracle then :D
