I am just curious if anyone else notices what i do. I have several different enigma morphs and i feel they are probobly the freindliest leos i have. So yes most chase there tail but if u were to have one as a pet i would definately recommend an enigma. Anyone agree or disagree.:main_yes::main_no:

accualy i do have to agree. i only have one enigma that is agressive, and hes only agressive during breeding. but he is still quite docile when being held.

not any more, enigmas are on tables at shows for 20-30 bucks any more.

Hm, interesting to know..they're definitely not that price in Canada. I've yet to see one at a show here at all.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't the rumor about dirt cheap $15-20 enigmas on a table a big misunderstanding?

Ludwig's a bell enigma.. And his personality is SO entirely different than any of my other leopards. He's just much more calm and accepting than the others. I often compare leopard geckos to cats.. But Ludy's more like a dog!

Oh I have to agree. My enigmas have great personalities. They tolerate being held, and Nefertiti has actually fallen asleap in the crook of my elbow a few times.

So I don't have a enigma because of the fact they they do have some genetic problems. I like them because there is nothing that looks like it out there. To me once they figure out what goes on with them or once they breed them out more then i will get one. They are still new and people really don't know a whole lot about them besides being a dominate trait with genetic problems.

People say they breeding them out helps them but it doesn't cure the genetic defaults. I don't want to bring any animal into the world that i know isn't going to be "normal acting" and isn't going to have to deal with a "twitch" its whole life. To me some people bring something out early that sound be figured out more to make money and not think about the animal and how it will be its whole life.

What is the oldest enigma out there today? Do we know if this genetic default is still gonna allow a full life compaired to the "normal" leos genetics?
Theres alot of questions to me that need to be answered befor i get one but thats my opinion.

Everyone is allowed to think what they want but these are my thoughts about enigmas.

Agreed.
I have one male Tornado Enigma who I've bred to three different females, and I had planned on acquiring a few other enigmas, but after doing more research on their genetic weaknesses, I'm to the point where not only do I not want to buy more enigmas, I am seriously considering selling off the male and throwing out any possible enigma eggs that I collect.
I also agree that "to each their own" is valid as well. There are many people who are very excited about different crosses that are coming out of enigma breedings,...I was one of them,...even up until last month.
Perhaps I'll end up regretting not getting on the "Enigma wagon",..perhaps I won't,..either way, I do feel that if certain "morphs" (mutations) are detrimental to the animals health and life, then they should be avoided, even if they look really unique and "cool".

i guess u guys make a good point. But look at the spider ball python been around for years and they still tweek. This is like saying that if u were having a child and knew it was gonna be physically chalenged that u would abort it. That is what i am takin from this. Definately a bit different but to some these things are like there kids.

Not at all. When a spider BP is bred to a spider BP,..the result is not dead offspring. The result is all spiders. The tweak is the head wobble, and while this is not a sought-after trait, it seemingly has no impact on the quality or length of life that the snake lives.

As a parent of two,...I won't even comment on this.
We're discussing the detrimental nature of the Enigma gene as it is found in Leopard geckos,..not birth defects in human beings.

Since when is Enigma X Enigma a fatal cross? Never heard that before.

All the enigmas that have hatched here lost all circling and wobbling within a few weeks.

I think there's a little confusion regarding the difference between genetic defaults and faults caused by serious inbreeding. As a new random trait, it had to be inbred to reproduce it. Unfortunately, the brand new morph was released to the public before being outcrossed. It's now up to the breeders to do the outcrossing and stop the "defaults". We've worked with Enigmas since they were first released and have witnessed how each generation gets stronger and the percentage of babies with quirks dramatically decreases. Just figured I'd throw my opinion in since we've worked with them for a few years.

I have heard that with each out-crossing the "deformities" lessen,..however I have also heard that Enigma X Enigma results in offspring that suffer from various things,..i.e. seizures, disorientation etc...
It is nice to hear from people that have seen healthy animals emerge from Enigma X Enigma breedings though.
