I was digging through my old photo archive, and noticed how Gutlei has changed so much!! She was rather light colored as a juvenille, and now she is almost black...

Gutlei when she was 5-6 months old:

The cooler you keep a Leopard gecko the darker the pigmentation will become. Likely the cage temps you had it in wasn't warm enough to keep the dark pigmentation from seeping to the surface.

I have an enigma that changed color almost as drastically as this gecko has. She's been kept at the same temperature consistantly, and I chalked it up to a hormonal change, since it happened around the time she began to ovulate.

I like her better dark Bonnie! Tell her not to change back! :)

thats a pretty neat comparison. wow she darkened a lot . I wonder if the darkening like that could be of the foods they eat? just a guess.

Yep, exactly as you said! She stayed a light color until she ovulated for the first time, then she became dark ever since. I don't think its the temperature because I keep all my leos at the same temp throughout the year; Gutlei was the only one that turned dark.
