ok I guess, I don't know why would I would buy another one anyway because he's got so many health issues, and I'm running out of money spent over 250 dollars in vet visits so far, and we're going again next week and I'm expecting that to be a good 125 dollars.

Ks7777 - u might want to seriously look at your husbundry if there are several issues

What you mean? I bought him from PetSmart for 22 dollars, I spent over 400 on him already.

because u spent $400 on the leo means u dont necessarily have good husbundry?? Kudos to u for taking it to the vet but i think u should find out the underlying health problems which usually means poor husbundry

I guess, but it just he seems lonely and bored all the time.. If I was a gecko I would want a friend.

No, no, no. You need to understand that reptiles are NOT humans... they do not have the same needs or feelings or anything. They are not going to smile and run around when they are happy... what makes you think he seems lonely and bored? A gecko in captivity is going to lay around most of the time in a small terrarium, they have nowhere else to go.

Yes, humans need other people for company. But another gecko would add stress to your first gecko, not a friend. Like roger said, it might be something wrong with your husbandry. Please tell us the temps, substrate, etc and maybe we can help.

SMH at this whole thread!

ks777- why ask questions if you don't want to hear the answers? everything on this thread has been sound advice (well except for jellybeans crazy answer) but eachtime you get upset and argue...why ask the question then!?!

+1:main_thumbsup: to no further Leo's till you can get this one to be healthy for a period of time, and +1:main_thumbsup: on needing to go back to barebones basics on your husbandry.

People on here are NOT trying to be mean by suggesting that your husbandry isnt up to snuff. Try to not get defensive and use the suggestions.

There are a large number of reasons for leo's not to be housed together.

Fighting, illness and stress, being the big ones.
If you put another leo in with your current (already injured) one, then expect to be paying EVEN more at the vets.

This whole forum needs to lighten up a little bit, Ks can get another gecko if he wants. If you put a female and male together they prob will have babies but I am sure he knows this. If you can not figure out the black pearl joke you are probably really young or really old. Ks trust me bro get a second gecko and they will do much better, I personally house two of the same sex per cage and never had any issues. Just make sure your other gecko is healthy before adding a new one. :D

I will add a female when he's healthy but he doesn't have his penises so is it possible to have a baby? I don't think it is but I'm not sure. Because I know they don't use their penis to pee..

Husbandry just means how well you take care of them, whether your cage or dirty or what not.
Thanks for clearing this up.. His cage is ALWAYS cleaned every weekend on Sunday, I scrub it with animal safe dish detergant, and I always make sure he's got fresh water every morning, night. I take really good care of him because I know he's been sick before when he got really bloated and I didn't want anything like this to happen again.

if they have any penises then they can have a baby, if he lost both of them then he cant
Okay thanks I am not sure about the other penis the vet's going to check into it next friday the 22nd when I go at 7:30 am.

40 gallon works best btw, 20 will do but it will get too cramped for 2 when they are both full adults
I've got a 20 gallon right now. I believe he's a full adult I am not sure I've had him for about three years.

Ok, just reading through this entire thread in my opinion stick with the leo you have and that's it. Geckos aren't suicidal let's face it they're just not that smart to kill themselves. And if you had complained about running out of money plus the animal only costing you $22 dollars and the vet bills being $400 dollar. Plus you didn't know what the term husbandry ment... you shouldn't get another animal. You will probably end up with another animal who will end up sick just like the first and then have double the vet bills and no way to pay for it. You've also been a member since 2009, haven't you done any reading on the forum? Sorry to sound harsh, but come on. Look at what people are telling you.

I just feel like its a great hobby to get into especially as a kid, sometimes you make mistakes but eventually you learn how to be a great owner and you geckos end up doing extremely well. When I was a kid I ended up killing a gecko or two before I learned the ins and outs and every since then I have ended up raising very happy and healthy lizards. If one dies its not the end of the world, its not like they are going extinct or anything.

Dude, you're making yourself look dumber and dumber each post. I hate to be a jerk about it but keeping leos together is never a good idea. They're animals that injure each other over food. They can also spread illnesses. Etc.

I feel bad for your leos, but it makes no sense for you to be giving suggestions if you have no clue about what you're talking about.

You personally house 2 of the same sex? Try the forum search and see the hundreds of threads about NOT housing like that.

You're stupidity shouldn't be taken out on the geckos.... Like they're expendable or something

My stupidity, thats cute.... I would like to point out the rules of this forum, which specifically says trolling or making threatening remarks to members is considered against the rules. I do not have any issues with my geckos, never have. They do not fight, have plenty of room, and lots of hiding places, and none of them are sick either. You can doubt me all you want but 10 years later they are all still doing great.

Jellybean, we don't tolerate ANY type of racial comments or slurs here. I don't care if you think it's a joke or not. If it happens again you will be banned, simple as that.

As to the rest of the thread... I'll just say I understand how frustrating it is when inexperienced keepers are making dumb choices about their geckos, but all we can do is try to guide them by posting about some better and more humane choices. Just because they piss us off doesn't mean we can berate them etc.

To the thread starter... your gecko has health issues. If you get another gecko before your current one is 100% healthy then you are being irresponsible. Geckos don't care about the company of other geckos; they are fine alone or housed with others. It sounds like you are opting not to do that, which is a wide decision.

I edited out the offensive remark from the posts it was quoted in; please report the post if I missed one. I'm sick as a dog and not on my game atm.
