Do you have any realtives or friends that could check on him every few days? You can pot a bunch of worms in a bowl, but the water is the hard part.

You should really find someone to take care of your leo while you're gone...pick somebody who you know to be a responsible person and ask if they'll check on him/her a few times a week. It takes less than 10 minutes to pour some mealies in a bowl and spot clean. Most good friends would have no problem with it...just shoot 'em some cash for their help when you get back, and i'm sure they'll be willing to do it again.

You should really do some research. Leopard geckos don't eat veggies as part of a regular diet. Yeah, some may nibble on a fruit but it's not their normal diet to eat that stuff.

I've never seen a leo that was over weight from a normal diet. The only ones I've seen that were unhealthy was due to them eating a diet strickly of wax worms or too many waxworms mixed in with other feeders. There is NO reason to feed your leo veggies as their bodies are not designed to digest them.

If you're driving to the beach I see no reason why you can't take him with you if it's feasable. I use to take all my geckos with me to FL (1,000 mile drive) because I was there for a month at a time. My husband at the time would not care for them and refused to allow anyone in the house to help care for them so I had no other choice. Leaving him without care is just asking for trouble should something go wrong.

:( This reminds me a little too much of STUTFL's old owners.

When I took the gecko, they got a snake, left it by the window without heat and it died.

Read up on geckos! And find someone trustworthy to look after the little tyke if you can't take her along.

If you do end up doing this, ask to see the area your gecko will be staying in. Take note of how clean the store is kept, and if their animals are PROPERLY taken care of. Make sure the staff seems knowledgable enough to be caring for reptiles that actually have owners, not just wholesale animals that aren't owned yet. Ask what kind of disinfectant they use and how it's diluted...they shouldn't be using any Febreeze, Oxyclean, Resolve, 409, Fantasic, Cinch...these can kill a reptile in less than 12 hours. Bring your own gutloaded insects so there's no chance of contamination. Um...i'm sure there's more you should ask, but i'm so tired I can't think straight right now.

Basically, you don't want your leo out in the general population where he/she is going to be exposed to animals that haven't been correctly quarantined...and you want to be sure that when you do come back, your pet is alive and doing well. Three weeks is a long time in that store...

If it is a decent store, then pick up a care guide on leopard geckos while you're there and read it while you're on vacation. That way, when you get back, you'll be an expert on how to care for it.

I also agree with what everyone else is say. I myself am going to be going away for 2-3 while my husband's band goes to Chicago for a music fest. Not as long as three weeks, but has me freaked out none the less. Can all but garuntee you will come back to a seriously ill, if not dead pet. You need some one to come in to feed, water, and clean up after. You took on the responsibily of caring for these animals when you took them into your home. You need to make sure they're being taken care of, and taken care of properly if you are away.

When I leave for a few days, I have already decided I'm going to type up a general care sheet for my brother in law (hopefully he agrees to doing it, seeing as he only lives a minute away). Give them basic info, such as what temps should be at, make sure to remind them about changing water, scraping out the pooh, and refilling the mealie bowl. I'm also going to be putting on the vet's phone number and the hotel's phone number in the case of emergency. And above all else, making sure that I specify NOT to be handeling them so there aren't any accidents (would hate to see a gecko injured/killed because of an inexperienced person), keeping lids on, ect. Have a plan layed out before hand, and then that way you can be sure that they're being taken care of in your absense. :main_thumbsup:

What can I say, I'm very particular in the way my pets are cared for. lol.

What about this one, specifically, do you know to be the problem? Which ingredient(s)?
