Thanks guys. I'm out of options, so I'll give it a shot if I can find some. I don't think he can get much worse. And I can't sit here and do nothing.

I edited my other post, so you might want to recheck it...I offered another option to get it to a vet...I hope you can work something out soon!

thanks Jordan. I am (obviously) not of age, or I would take him myself. I know people of age but they are at colleges hours away and I just don't see how I could get that to work. I'm so mad at my parents right now...if he dies, it's on their conscience. this little guy is a one-of-a-kind leo, he's so docile and has never tried to bite me or anything. -sigh- if he passes, i will be very upset.

I'm not 100% convinced that it is an infection. Which is why he really needs to see the vet. I know you are in a tough situation, but throwing random drugs at the animal when you don't know the doses or if there are any side effects is not a good idea. Ask your friends. Even if they are older and a ways away, hopefully they will help you out with this sucky situation. Or try talking again with your parents. If you are mature and reasonable I don't see why they wouldn't essentially be your taxi service, especially if you are paying. :/

I'm not old enough to drive a car either, But I chose the responsibility of being a pet owner, and even breeding. So I'm the one in charge of taking care of My animals and making sure that I'm doing everything they need to thrive. I have money saved up for an "emergency" like in your case. I understand that you love your gecko alot, But your leo NEEDS to go to the vet. Maybe ask you parents if you can do some extra chores around the house, or pay them. If your parents realize how important he is to you, they'll probably drive you there. I was in the same situation as you, I had a corn snake that had a kidney prolapse almost a year ago and I didn't have $250 on hand. So I my parents knew how much I love my reptiles so they took me to the vet and payed it. I paid half and the other half was my birthday present. Maybe ask if he could be your Christmas present?

GeckoGal, great idea! I'm so sorry, I can only imagine what you are going through. Without medical attention, you really can't help your gecko. Keep the area clean until you figure something out, and if he starts to rapidly lose weight, you could try a reptile calorie supplement. My leo had an infection, and after being dosed with Baytril and a reptile calorie supplement, recovered. The vet I go to takes in sick animals or animals that can no longer be cared for, if your local vet would, it may be best for him.

You could always take him to the vet and ask if they can help you, maybe they will out of kindness or at least set you up with a payment plan. It never hurts to ask.

The thing is, the veterinary practice can't legally take a client who is under 18 without an adult to take responsibility if something were to go wrong...law requires an adult to be present. At least, that's how it is in Florida.

he is fairly active, surprisingly. Still not too interested in food but he's taking a couple of worms reluctantly. the area has darkened and looks flat rather than swollen. i hope he makes it through =/

i appreciate your concern very much. he's getting warm baths every day, so that's as clean as i can get it on my own, i'm assuming.

Leo is still holding on. He has shown no progress but no decline in health either. Just waiting for something to happen, and hoping it will be positive.
