Yes, they can get under the door with that size opening. Many of us, me included, have had gecko escapees and most of us have found our geckos, some after many months. Here are my suggestions:

a. go around the edges of the room where the gecko escaped, and other adjoining rooms if possible at night in the dark with a flashlight. They usually don't go that far and hide under things.

b. put out a hide, a bowl of mealworms and a heating pad and maybe you can attract it to its comforts.

They are very hard creatures and can survive for quite awhile, especially if you have roaches.

Your best chance of finding him is within 24 hours of escape.
They dont go far at first, but as they start hunting for food and warmth
they may wander anywhere.
Look under and behind everything. Remember, they can get into tight places.
Get someone else to help and you can cover more area quicker.
Good luck.

That's great! I am sure you are relieved.
Can you tell us please where you found him, and how far he was from his home?
