Question for you all:
I have 2 adult females in a 20 gallon long. There are 3 hides (2 half-logs and a snake cave), plus the back wall is covered in the foam fake rock with lots of climbing/hiding crevices. Could I safely put a 3rd female in there (granted they all got along, of course)? Or maybe a male?

Here's my tank:

It depends on the situation.
I house 1 male,1 female together in a 40 gallon breeder because they won't eat when I seperate them. I got a second female because I heard that you should keep more than 1 female with a male and she attacks my other female and so I have to keep her seperate. :main_rolleyes:

LoL it's love awwww

My cage is 75 gallons. I'm getting 3 babies in 2 weeks. I'm sure that will be fine. But if they all turn out to be female (they are temp sexed female) will i still have room to add a male?
thanks

i was thinking its better to put one gecko in one tank. they are individualistic right?
but put two for 30 gallon tank should be no problem for breeding purpose. ^^

I totally would. If you want eggs then totally go for it, and the girls probably won't mind another female in a tank that big. As long as everyone is the same size, there usually isn't a problem.

In the wild they are, but I've never seen my geckos have a problem with each other. I keep one male to two females, and I think they actually love it because they sleep ontop of each other all the time. They probably share heat or something. And every breeder keeps harem style set-ups with one male and 3 females, so it obviously works just fine.

We seem to be in the middle of the road... 1 Juvenile Gecko per cage - each cage approx 10 gallons. Every adult is in a 20G.

The little ones stay in racks that are about 8"X17".

Breeding cages are all 20G also - but they are together a max of 24 hours before separation. Usually after a few hours.

We have **one** male/female pair that stay together in a 29G... They've been in there forever tho - and they seem to do everything together... :main_rolleyes:

I'm surprised that more people don't have at least small groups of females. I have (at this moment) 3 females in a 20 gallon tank, and they all get along super well, a male by himself gaining some weight, and a couple that are living together for the time being. I think that as long as all of them are eating well, look like they sleep well and don't bicker when they're all out together, I say they're fine.

Mine lick each other's faces, so I take that to mean they like who they're rooming with :)

I've got 2 females in a 30 gallon with 4 hides. They tolerate each other pretty well, I've even seen them eat from the food bowl together in peace. I don't think I would do more than 2 in a tank unless I had a really large tank, it's gotta be stressful for them to be in such close quarters, especially for a species that does not need companionship.

I keep my unsexed (Magic) in its own 10 gallons and my two girls that I just got from "snakegirl" slurpee and Short Circuit together in a 20 gallon and it works fine. I don't think I would put more than two. To much competition for food I would think. But that's just my opinion.

I have two girls 5 and 7 months old that I have had together in a 40 gallon breeder for 2 months now. They have 2 warm and 2 cool hides, but they are always in the same one together. Both are gaining weight and seem to be cool with each other.

i have 3 in a 30 as well and they all sleep together and i have 3 hides for them and a humid hide, i have the robbie hamper book and it stated that in the wild they hang in colonies so what is the truth. we all know when our geckos don't get along so i think that multiple geckos in one tanks does work .

My two big males have a 20L each and then my small male (formerly thought a female) and juvie female (under a year) have their own 10g's

I was planning on having my juvie female and my then small female in a 20L, but obviously that has changed

Does anyone here have a huge tank with more than 2 or three females in it? I'd love to get (or build) a cage with a ton of floorspace and just put my 6 females together (considering they all get along. Most of them have taken turns rooming with each other and so far everyone is very calm about different roommates) and build them an incredible enclosure with dozens of little places to hide. This wouldn't happen for another year because some of my girls are still too small to be with my full grown females, but I'd love to hear if anyone else has kept a group like this of females together.

I know most people on here don't believe in housing leos together, so please don't swarm me with no's. I'm just asking to see if anyone has done it :)

I think it 100% depends on the enclosure. I have a tank I call a " community tank " it holds four females at this moment, but will soon hold three more. I am not sure exactly what size it is but I know its 60 + gallons. It's in the shape of a square so it has lots of ground space. I have a calcium dish, a bubbler water bowl that I clean every three days that all my leos drink out of, in one of the corners I have a heat rock under soil then a moist hide on top of it at a perfect temp of 90F. I also have the biggest heat mat you can buy under the hot side...

My point is... As long as you have everything the leo needs, plus MANY MANY MANY hiding spots, even more than they need they will do fine and will thrive.... I know this from experience. :)
