I have the Powershot SD960 (the model before this one) and it's a great, super compact camera. If you usually shoot in preset auto modes and plan on continuing to shoot that way then this is a great camera.

If you want to learn how to shoot in manual modes and one day step up to a DSLR then this may not be the best choice for the money. The difficulty in adjusting manual settings is the only thing I can't stand about it but that's to be expected with a camera so tiny.

One of my favorite features is the macro mode. It takes excellent shots when you have adequate lighting.

For an in between compact point and shoot and DSLR model I would suggest the SX120 IS. It's definitely larger than the SX990 but it's still small enough to take anywhere. The buttons and selection wheels are more like my DSLR so it's more comfortable to use IMO. It's also cheeper!

The camera I have been using is great but... it removes a lot of the light. No matter how much light, it dims it a bunch...

Example. Shows the colors pretty well but it is not as bright as it should be.

Super giant Tremper.... She is absolutely stunning in person.

I just saw an ad of the new Canon Powershot last night, its S90. If I haven't gotten my camera (I have a G9), I'll definately take a look at this one. It is suppose to do better in low lighting conditions.

Yea, the G9 is great; but I feel I'm wasting it as I'm only using it to take pictures of my geckos. So I thought the extra large aperture and higher light sensitivity of the new S90 might serve the purpose better.
