Itchy, sneezing, squinting gecko advice??

My BB gecko has been growing perfectly and quickly since I got him last November as a baby, he's got a great appetite and he's always been very feisty.

Since sometime last week I've noticed he's started slowing down, becoming very lethargic and spending most of his time asleep under his lamp. He still gets up to eat several times a day, and he hasn't lost any weight. He also drinks great, and spends plenty of time in his moist hide to keep him from drying out. He looks visibly very healthy, normal coloration, great skin condition, etc.

However looking more closely I see that most of the time his eyes are either half closed or totally closed, or one eye is closed and the other is half open. He's usually very alert at any tiny noise, and he ignores them now. Even if I blow on him or call his name he doesn't reacct, which is very unusual.

I've also noticed he seems very itchy (even if he's not in shed) and rubs against any surface he can. Since a few months ago he often licks his genital-area, though I can't see anything visibly wrong there. He sheds normally. The other thing is since I've had him, he sneezes a lot. It's just a small quick squeak, but he does it multiple times in a day, often while he's licking his behind or scratching against things.

They're all very random, tiny things.. but I want to catch any illness before it gets worse. I've lost my first to geckos recently and I'm terrified to lose this one.

Any advice would be great.

Get a fecal sample and take it to a vet (who may want to examine him before just analyzing the sample)

What substrate do you have him on? If it's sand then perhaps it could be irritating him? Or if it's repti-carpet maybe it's something you've been cleaning it with? Just curious.

He is and always has been housed on plain paper towel, which I change every week and a half or so. If he doesn't start acting normal in the next few days I will probably bring him to the vet, and I'll make sure to bring a sample.

I feed him mealworms, he had a few crickets when he was younger but I never use them anymore. He does have a little bit of shed on his toes so I'll check his eyes to see if there's any there too.

Thanks so far, guys. I'll see what the vet says in a few days.

Yes I do, he goes in it several times a day and I re-moisten it 2x a day, changing the paper towel bits in it every 3 days. He hasn't lost weight yet so he's doing alright, and when I pick him up he becomes his normal self again. I think I will take him to the vet tomorrow (it's closed today for Canada day) and see what I can do.

Thanks!

Just wanted to post and say I discovered my gecko has a hemipenal prolapse, a very small one so I didn't notice it until now. I will bring him to the vet immediately and he should be just fine after that.

Thanks for your help everyone!
