These are the last balls I'll be getting for the year. Thank god there's only a month until next year! I got a nice Pastel, Black Pastel and Yellowbelly from Pat Kline and I also picked up a nice female Black Pewter locally. The Pewter was produced from a Coral Glow to a Black Pewter. I took the "garbage" of that clutch! LOL! These guys are all beautiful and I can't wait until they are big enough to begin producing for me. Thanks for looking.

Famous last words. I always tell myself no more of something and end up with many more. I do give it to you though...calling it a wrap for the year with only a couple days left...that's much easier to keep your word on it. LOL Very nice additions and I look forward to seeing what all you plan on doing with your Balls.

Very nice pickups! I especially like the YB, you can never have enough YB girls in your collection, SO many nice combos with that gene.

Nice pickups! You know there's still the entire month of December to pick up more ball pythons before the year ends haha!

I also saw the photos you took of a local breeder's collection you posted on another forum. Come on, anyone who has had ball pythons for a few years recognizes that collection and knows about the talented Asian in the South Bay- who loves his chocolate combos, bananas combos and produces "killer extraordinary outrageous" ball pythons (KEO for short lol)!

Thanks Jon. But I swore off any purchases for the rest of this year! LOL!

The kid's collection is the collection to end all collections. Period. I'm just glad I got a few snakes from him to add to my collection. I can only hope to produce some killers from them.

But as far as "talented" goes….I'll quote "KEO" himself. "Breeding Ball Pythons is 100% luck. You can have the best collection in the world and when you put two snakes together you might get what you wanted and you might not."

I believe that. It's totally out of our hands when you breed to produce something that is "statistically" probable. It has nothing to do with talent…or money in this case…it has everything to do with the snakes themselves. You, me or anyone with a pulse could have the same collection as him IF we had the money or resources to do it and then and only then, LADY LUCK was on our side.

Actually, I would partially disagree!
The "talent" I'm referring to isn't hitting the odds on a multi-gene mutation or producing the world's first. A true talented keeper/breeder is one who has a deep passion for his animals, strives to keep learning/improving, has a dedicated/disciplined work ethic and has a highly detailed eye to observe and "read" their animals. I'm not just talking about ball pythons, I'm talking about any species of animals and Keo definitely has that. I wouldn't be surprised if he was highly successful with other species of reptiles or animals. There are many people who own or have invested in high end collections, but without a combination of the above mentioned attributes they are less successful than those are possess what I refer to as "animal talent"? Just my opinions.

Jon, I agree...you definitely need passion to succeed in this business. Anyone can buy two animals and breed them, but to truly succeed you need passion like you say. Oh, and btw...who's this "Keo" guy you keep talking about?? I promised the guy I wouldn't use his name. He likes to remain anonymous...and your not helping. ;) I want to be able to go play with a banana ball or a highway again!
