a few questions in advance to Calico's thread:
I checked the price of the MR-148, reptipro5000 & kemp incubators and they all look the same, same size and etc. BUT! the price of reptipro5000 is 250$, the kemp is 190$ and the MR-148 is 130$, how come??? am I missing something?
another question, does anyone know how can I ship it to Israel? LLLreptile claims
they can't. any ideas?maybe to ship it to somewhere in the US and than to Israel...?:main_huh:
thank you guys!

There are a couple of threads about the differences/similarities between them in this section somewhere but as for the shipping, you may just have to find a friend that would be willing to buy it and then ship it to you.

Thank you Mel, most of the threads are actually saying there is NO difference, and my question is, why is the difference in the price is so high?

120$ difference for reputaion? wow...
Here's another question for those who use 220V (mostly europeans...): did you find a version of one of those incubators in 220V version or you use a transformer? How did you order it from the US or have you find it in europe?
thank you.

Hope you don't mind, I added to your title. Hopefully you'll get more answers about the electrical difference.

I think I remember a thread where the Reptipro was supposed to be upgraded on the inside or something. I only have the MR-148 so I can't compare the two but I personally wouldn't pay the extra $120.

You should also consider making your own incubator from a mini fridge. There are a lot of sets of instructions on the internet including a nice article with pictures on the Gecko Time website.

I read it, Aliza. The problem with that solution is that the outcome is less aesthetic and even more important, it can't cool, it can only heat.
so...I'm still looking for a real mini fridge incubator.
I am working on an incubator which is water based. it's a big box of styrofoam filled with water and a smaller box inside. the water will surround the inner box and will be heated with an aquarium heater with thermostat. the water will also be stirred by power heads so the temp will be homogeneous and unchanged because of the thermostat and the styrofoam. water had a very high heat capacity so it will keep a steady temp even if the temp of the environment changes.
