I have read and spoken to people about how snows dont seem to be temp sexed. whats your experiences on this. is it worth cooking at 90 cause it dont make a difference and they will hatch quicker or is there still a bigger chance that at 82 it will be a female.

The problem with 90 is if you get any other egg you will incubate for males. I would stay at the temp you want other eggs to hatch at so you don't have to get anothe incubator for lower temps

Yeh that was my thinking when i set the incubator up, i got it going at 82/83 incase. is there any information on why they are not temperature sexed. It seems really strange.

I am having the same with mine, I just leave it at 82 and let nature take over. The last one hatched at 43 days but it was a mack snow cross. I thought I saw an article on here on why they are non temp sexable but I may be mistaken

Snows are not as guaranteed to be temp sexed, but I personally would say it is at least 90-95% accurate (from my experience). I can only think of 3 babies which came out opposite sex from what I temped for.

I agree of the codominant snows I produced this year all matched what I sexed them for. So it must be pretty accurate. Sounds like a fun experiment though.

A lot of people have great luck temp sexing Macks. One year we got about 50/50 on what we were trying to incubate for but last year we got about 90% what we incubated for. I would try temp sexing them and see what happens.

In 3 years of incubating Mack snows for female at 81-83 (depending on the year) I have gotten exactly 1 male (super snow).

Well what do you know? I probably sold HIM to you as a female. It sounds as if it isn't a horrible surprise, but I wasn't counting that one. OK, make that 2 males in 5 years.

And that is about as accurate as temp sexing non-macks...

Macks not being able to temp sex like normal leos is about as real of a thing as the easter bunny...:main_laugh:
