I have kept beardys in the past, both were mean as heck, sold the one and traded the other for my milksnakes. Anyways I was recently asked to take a couple beardys from someone who cant keep them anymore, I told them I would take them. I was just wondering about the mealies thing, heard bad things about them for beardys but their have been alot of stupid rumors going around about mealies that arent true. Are they fine for beardys or?

If u do supers you can just put them in the 1 at a time... if you do the small ones (reg mellies) then put them in a glass type dish about 2 inches deep.

oooh question on similar subject.........what about giant mealies?

OK sorry about all the posts.

You said a question on similar subject.
Mellies are fine for all ages.
Giant mellies (just before pupa) are fine also just make sure there not to big for them.
Suppers they should be a good year or so old before you feed them (very hard shell compared to reg mellies).

Sorry for all the posts but that answered your question right?

Ask your supplier if they feed growth hormones to the giant mealies! A lot of them do. That's how they get so big and don't morph into beetles. Just a heads up.

That’s true forgot.

reptileman27- Nope there a diff type of mealie and you cant put them in fridge. There bigger and wont always go to beetles (but I had 2 before go to beetles I feed them to the bds lol:main_laugh: ):(
Thats why most pepl dont breed them (you like that right pepl).

Reg mealies are easy to get them in to beetles (I feed them off to never thought about keeping for breeding).:D
