I like feeding mealworms more because they are easier, but my gecko likes crickets way more. I feed about 70% crickets and 30% mealworms.

Crickets here, if well ventilated and cleaned regulery the tub you breed/keep them in will not stink, the crckets themselvs dont have a bad oder at all imo.

I wish I had the luck that some of you have in feeding one type of feeder. I can't seem to get everyone to eat one type of feeder. Most of mine eat mealies but then I have a couple that will not touch them what so ever. I have to feed them crickets and some don't even won't them either. I have to feed supers also to keep them happy.

Its wierd that they can be so picky about what they want to eat. In the wild they would probably eat anything that moves but at my house they wanna fine dine!:main_laugh:

Mine eat everything but normally crickets everyday and I leave wax worms in his bowl...sometimes meal worms. I've heard that insects with exo skeletons can be difficult for leos to digest. And also super worms can eat through tails and innards so why risk that?

i use crickets and super worms! 1 super worm every 2nd day.
apparently super worms are not a good staple diet and there nutrition values are not as good as mealies and crix

I like mealworms more because they breed easy, they are odorless, and they fatten up the geckos.however, nothing triggers a geckos feed response like a cricket.

Mealworms simply because I realized yesterday that crickets can hide under reptile carpet.

Also, though crickets breed much faster, I like mealworms simply because it's easier to handle them and care for them and whatnot. I like cricket chirps, but I don't like the smell of crickets.

I feed mealworms ... phoniex worms.. and crickets here and there.. but I am trying to get away from crickets.. my gecko is about 4 or 5 months .. and it will only eat pray while it is moving.. this kinda sucks for the worms.. I tired the carrot in the middle of dish thick and it gets them moving for a while but after that they stay still and my gecko wants nothing to do with them... I will continue to keep a dish of worms in the cage and feed every other day with roachs.. when I start to breed them.

I'm doing mealworms and superworms for my adult, he's only eating around every 4days. The cricket feeding response is a joke in my book. I can dump a dozen large in his tank and all he does is watch them all walk around.. I'm sure alot of you have leos who destroy crickets but my boy is too lazy, maybe one day I will get him to hunt crickets but I doubt it..

I just got my baby gecko about a week ago and I started with crickets which he LOVES. It's so cute watching him shake his little tail and pounce like a kitten. I've also picked up some mealworms to try because I'd like to fatten him up a bit. I got him from a certain pet store so I don't know how old he is and whether he is at his appropriate weight. I know they can stay small if underfed and who knows what kind of treatment he underwent there. I'm going to put some in a dish for him tonight and see if he likes them.
