I couldn't agree more. The only snake I have EVER wanted was a Green Tree Pyton. People used to tell me that they were not a 'beginner' snake and tried to discourage me from getting one. I read a lot, asked a lot of questions, and over the past 5-6 years more was being learned about them and more people started working with them. When I got Chahaya as a yearling, I was concerned about my ability to meet his needs... but not any more. He has grown tremendously, has an awesome appetite, and there is so much more information available about their care and breeding than ever before.

I sometimes just sit in the half-dark and watch my chondros. To me, they are like living pieces of art. I am forever awed by their beauty and mystique. They are incredible creatures indeed!

Cha-cha (CM 07.32) was born on May 7, 2007 and weighs around 400+ grams. He is 4' 7" long. Samba (GSAS 08.27) was born 4/19/08 and weighs around 250-300 grams. She is about 3' 6" long or maybe more.

I have seen them both, and they are beautiful. I've seen them eat too, and I have to agree that Cha-cha has a good appetite. I wouldn't want to get between him and his mouse.

No! GTP's are not snakes that can be handled like a ball python or corn snake. I was shown how to remove my snakes from their enclosures by the breeders who raised them from neonates using the method they used...which was to pop off their perches. It made more sense to do it the way they did rather than training them to switch over to a hook.

+1,
i do, GTPs are not snake to be handled like Colubrids, Boas, or Another Python..
we should handling different way with another, because every GTP has a unique character..
And also the temprament of GTPs dont depend on its locality..
it is depending on its character.. every GTPs can be handled without hook or gloves, even Biaks.. sometimes Sorong n Wamena is more aggresive than Biak..
so, its not depend on locality..
