The health and lives of my animals are worth $44 for the analysis and discussion. Luckily, I don't have to pay for these, as I have full access. Either tomorrow or Monday, I will send you a copy you can read through if you like.
Thank you! I would love to read the paper. A lot has changed since I graduated from college.

Congratulations you proved what most of us already knew,With out the chemistry lesson. Let it go!

This is the fundamental misunderstanding that I am witnessing and trying to avoid, Eric. It's not what you knew. It's what you believed or thought. I think your caution based on a hunch is well founded. I like to use moss, personally, and am also going to try out the coconut fiber for some of my '09 clutches. The point of all of this was to find a truthful answer. Not a guess or gut reaction. It's not that the latter is incorrect. In this case, it was correct. It was just not well justified, and delivering the burden of proof can only strengthen the cause. For a greater understanding, the very basic chemistry lesson was necessary to establish that the hunch was valuable beyond opinions and beliefs.

You are certainly free to let things go anytime you wish, but I would not tell you to. That's your business.

Anytime I can, I'll be happy to help. Even though I haven't been away from school for too long, it feels like an eternity.

The document has been sent.
Got it, thank you!!! (I've been out of college for 25 years, and there's so much more to know now...)

I've got the bag right here, It says non-toxic right on the bag. The only thing bad in it is a little ammonia, .016% for the whole bag. It's good to go!

Calci -Sand also says Fully Digestable on the bag and we all know that isn't true. Why doesn't post that link to the Document.

I don't mean to be mean or rude but I don't understand what you meant to say.

I meant to say why doesn't someone post a link to the document that everyone is referring too ;)

You have to remember that reptile eggs are soft and leathery. They are not hard like bird eggs. It is easier for chemicals to penetrate that soft shell.

adding on to the last post I made... It also says "IMPORTANT: Wear gardening gloves when using this substance"

Doesn't say why though...

To tell you all the truth, even the manufacturer doesn't know. I emailed them the question, and here is the response I got.

"The Miracle-Gro Perlite is derived from all natural products and poses no known health risk. Pets may safely re-enter the area after the product has been applied. However, we have no information on the use of this product when breeding reptiles."

They did send me a copy of their MSDS for it.

^ yup, I got a 3.5 cubic feet bag for $14 and its more than enough to last me a few years. Usually they aren't in with the other product you have to ask to get it from storage.
