I find it funny by the way Ray, don't mind the poopy heads. :D

I'm not sure how anybody can get upset at this thread. It's at least something to browse during break time at work :p

Speak for yourself. And don't call people poopy heads.
I didn't call anyone names...but you have to admit, it's a little beyond ridiculous at this point...it was funny, but it's losing its humor the longer it's dragged on. Have a great day at work!

Well I didn't name any names, so if you think I called you a poopy head, that's not my doing. Plus poopy head is possibly the lightest of the lightest "names" anybody can call on an internet forum. It's often used with humor, there are other names people use to actually insult, but then insulting was never my intent.

Seriously though, smile a bit, maybe there's a reason he hasn't posted what came out of the egg. Remember he did mention mother nature so I can only guess he hasn't posted the result due to *something* he has no control over.

:) :main_yes: :)

Thanks Mardy. It's been most difficult for us here...the waiting was awful. It should have hatched days ago and that was very concerning to us, but then the other day the egg started to collapse and our hearts sank. We just left it alone in the incubator and hoped for the best.

This morning we were rewarded with something very special, so it was a good lesson for us...NEVER give up on an egg that is collapsing! We hung in there with it and the result was wonderful, I will say that. I think it is worth the wait until I can get over to the store this evening to take pics. I prefer to wait a few days after hatchlings are born before I bother them with pictures, but I fear if we wait any longer the thin patience here will indeed turn into some sort of riot!

This was a worthwhile thread in that regard about the collapsing egg issue. I think it was fun, at least for most, but we were all getting frustrated with the long wait. I'm thrilled to say the result was worth the wait. We'll release a pic as soon as I can get it all done.

I understand the fear of dashed hopes, maybe I was being too snarky.
(Snarkiness and obnoxiousness are natural talents of mine, amongst other ones; I do try to keep them in check.)

I confess: the curiosity has been killing me, too! I want to KNOW! :main_huh:

I would have rather heard, "there's a small complication, we're holding off to be safe,"
than a purple gorilla cameo (which the polkadots are wild on, btw).

Sorry if I was a poopy head.

For the record...
I've hatched out many eggs that large and there were normal sized babies inside...even sometimes underdeveloped babies inside.

So, finally! It's been a long and winding road with this thread I know. We too are relieved it's over.

The egg began to collapse as I said earlier, but it didn't collapse too badly so there was hope. When he finally emerged we were both shocked and elated to say the least.....shocked that there was only one gecko in there, but elated that he emerged alive and healthy.

He is very big for a hatchling for sure, and very well developed. I think he spent way too much time in that big living room he had, and just didn't want to come out, so he grew and grew.

I'm wondering that maybe he was going to emerge a couple days ago and bit the shell which deflated it, but then he decided to take a nap for awhile. Who knows?!

Well anyway, he is very cool looking...a Banded Bandit. The first banded one we've hatched, so those Zorro genes continue to throw surprise babies at us. He is also very bold already, so it should be interesting to see how those bands develop. He has a big ole head and very long back toes, so we are hopeful he is Giant.

Introducing...not a "monster"...but Baby Zorro.

Beautiful baby...I am glad everything worked out well for you guys. I've never had luck with collapsed eggs in the past, but maybe your story will inspire me to have more faith next time. I'll bet you learned a lot from this experience.

I'll also bet you learned not to tease us folks on GeckoForums from now on. LOL! :)

Great story. :)

I think anything short of 8 babies would have been anticlimactic. We're just happy he's healthy and all turned out OK.

I've thrown out collapsed eggs in the past and now I'm pretty PO'd at myself about that. Something told me to hold onto this egg. I need to be more patient and take a lesson from this little guy. Hang in there and don't give up too soon...
