Here is my leo, cleopatra... cleo for short. =D she is currently 3 7/8 inches long and quite adorable, I hope you guys like the photos.... I have built up that dirt under her bridge so it is a nice hide that she dug herself... additionally it has came to my concern that potting soil might not be ok for her, and I started a thread about it in the housing section. Please feel free to post your comments on my substrate in that thread. Thanks for looking :D

Additionally, can anyone tell me what kind of leo I have? :D Thanks alot!

looks good, but is that thing in the corner a hide? it dosen't look like it would offer much security. i'd get a good old zoo med hide. they work pretty well. otherwise it looks cool.

Is this your first leopard gecko? :)

Cute thing it is XD
Love how the setup looks although there are quite a few things wrong with it and I'm pretty sure a wise user will tell them to you without sounding like a jerk, which when I try to explain something to someone, i accidently sound jerkish

I think you should put in a hide that she can feel really secure in. Leo's like dark places.

She's a cutie! You should double-check your care, though. There are a lot of things that could be done to better suit your little one. :)

not to be a jerk or anything...but i would reconsider...these things

that uv light stresses your little leo out

is that peat moss? impaction problems

where the moist hide? shedding aide?

is he/she shedding atm?

what are you feeding your leo? and how often looks very thin

water bowl looking dirty

where its shelter? (home)

regards

Please by all means do not feel like a jerk, im not the one that knows what they are doing you are. :D

I was under the impression UVB was good... which that light is a UVB.

Dont know where you see peat moss but there isnt any.

As I said, I built up the dirt under the bridge and she dug her own little tunnel for a hide, and soil keeps moisture.

Nope, No shedding.

I feed her mealworms, crickets, and dried fruit flies. ( I now have a feeding dish not seen in the pictures)

Water is changed once daily

She dug her own shelter.

Now this all being said and thanks to everyones help, ive decided to go with a light brown reptile carpet when I get to the store, and to make a nice hide for her out of a coconut. I cant get to the store today but I will take out the dirt today and replace with a leftover green carpet I have :(... ugly. It will do until I can get something better for her. If there is anything ive missed please tell me and as I said please dont feel like a jerk because I want the best for my gecko. I will be posting more pictures in an hour with its new setup for comments. Also, what is a good light then if UVB isnt? Thanks for your help! :D

All you need is heat, which actually you should be aiming to heat their belly, so an under tank heater is best.

Make sure it reaches about 90 degrees F.

*****UPDATE*****

So now I have reset my box, under his hide is moist paper towels btw... here you go, what else is needed? Please dont be afraid to speak your mind :D I dont not get offended easily at all. That reptile carpet is scraps I had laying around and it was the best I can do until I got to the store, but I cleaned it really well as I use to use it for my useless anoles... XD. I hope it doesnt look too messy. Thank you!

SOOOO im sure this closer to what she needs, but as the old saying goes: close only counts with horse shoes, and hand grenades. The question remains... is this set up right yet? Thank you everyone that responds... for you are the people that are ensuring my cleo a happy and healthy life!

That looks 100 times better! Great job :)

Some tips:
As far as the UVB...I almost killed a gecko of mine when I started out due to UVB overload. She lost her color, turned almost brown, and was VERY lethargic. An UTH is the way to go...no overhead light is needed, as leos are nocturnal, and will hide from light most of the time anyway.

You need at least two hides, 3 is better. One warm dry, one cool dry, and one moist. The more hiding places, the happier the gecko :)

Dry food is pretty useless for leos. They need live feeders, live mealworms, live crickets, live roaches, etc. The food also NEEDS to be dusted with a calcium powder like Repashy Calcium Plus for example. If a gecko does not have calcium, big health problems will surely follow.

Well I would really like to have some kind of light during the day, If she likes darkness I can provide her more places to hide but what could I use that would light it up real good during the day so if anything I could see the cage? Perhaps a regular house light bulb? Or is light just out of the question?

you can use a normal house lightbulb if the cage dosn't get a lot of natural light. and yes, one more hide is required.

I also have a blue light bulb that I got from the petstore ( Blacklight I guess :p) That is for night time, what if I always kept that on instead?

That might work. Like I said, you don't even really need a light, just get a UTH.

Also, you should have an enclosed area with moist papertowels so it gets nice and humid - like a sauna. A tupperware container with a hole cut in big enough for the gecko to get in works fantastic.

EDIT: :balloon3:  :balloon3:  :balloon3: 500th post! :balloon3:  :balloon3:  :balloon3:

Haha thank you, actually yes she loves to climb on it. I cant say how much it cost my friend gave it to me for free and I use to actually use it in a fish tank of mine... but I can tell you that he got it at pet smart :D

I imagine it probably feels good for her since the light above it is creating some heat on it
