This guy I produced last year and he was dark as a hatchling but not really dark. One big difference was that most of myshtctb have white feet as hatchlings but this guys feet were almost black. I produced him from a vms line shtctb male bred to shtctb from mmy own line. This was the first breeding of these two geckos. now that he is breedable i will be breeding him back to his mom and another shtctb and a darker tremper albino female.

If you have a gecko that looks like this let me know. This is a very exciting project to say the least.

OH an for all the "temps were low or irregular at incubation "skeptics out there the other gecko in the pic was also incubated in the same incubater but the two are from different parents.

SO what do you guys think.

Odd how these guys pop out of various Tang groups... That one is pretty dark compared to most... Good luck on your project!

you have posted this animal before and I am confident you have a very dark animal that is the real deal. Natural light images will bring out the detail better , so we can see the true nature of this gecko. DARK animals do not photograph well under household lighting in a white tub.

The second image is very close to how I foresee it looking under natural lighting (darkest gecko I have seen by far too :main_lipsrsealed: )

The only thing that makes me question the photo is that the gecko has a green hue under his black…

I think a natural light photo would be great.

I think you're on your way to a cool Jet.
The way the baldy part takes, it is much smoother and solid
covering than some of the darks I've seen photos of.
Lots of the tang patches have filled in nicely too.
I really like it so far. Good luck with 09's. Take care. Hj

I have had a couple of SHTCT hatch out very dark and brownish in color but not quite that dark... I dont think this will prove out to be genetic... I have tried to prove mine out to be genetic but no deal... Sold the project animals to a mom and pop shop... Kept one of the darker ones and is now part of my creamsicle project... She lightend up alot over the past couple of years... Now she is a light brown SHTCTB... Paul seen her recently...

In my opinion, it is an incubation induced coloration, not genetic... Urban gecko hatched a few of these as well a few years back and nothing ever came out of it...

I think that everyone just needs to relax and calm down on this dark gecko pictures. Jumping to conclusions doesn't help anything and I can definitly tell you that. Pictures taken of geckos straight up and from the side usually turn out differant, exspecially if you have a cheap digital camera. We all have experimented with taking photos of our geckos or other pets and have notice that they look differant.

I have a really dark brown leopard gecko that changes his colors all the time. Sometimes he is really dark sometimes he is alot lighter. There is all kinds of aspects that could affect the color of a geckos for a short period.

It could be something new too so it would suck to tell this man he is lying when he really may not be. It could be the link to a all black gecko or it could be just a genetic mess up from breeding that can't be passed.

I like the way this geckos looks. Its like one of those really ugly faced dogs that looks attractive for some reason.

If it is false then he will get what is called for but that can't be proved right now so everyone just chill and let the man show off for now.
