What kind do you have/morphs? Do you have pics? How much do you want for them?

You could always try posting them in the classified section of this website. If you're not familiar with this section, look at the very top of the page, and it's the third tab from the right.

Good luck.

Advertise, Advertise, Advertise. If you don't put them out there people can't buy them. Try the classifieds here and other sites like fauna. Hell, even Craigslist can be a source. Check with local petstores. Setup a website if you don't already have one. If all else fails and you really need them gone, you can usually wholesale them to a larger dealer at low prices. Like Robin said going to shows is a BIG help in moving animals and also helps get your name out in the community.
If you are having trouble moving animals you may want to consider scaling back on your breeding next season. You really need to consider the fact that many reptiles can take months, even years to sell depending on the market at the time and your asking price, so plan to house ALL hatchlings, both holdbacks and sellers, well into adulthood. Keep your breeding groups smaller and only produce what you can afford to house and feed for a potentially long time. With reptiles, and ESPECIALLY with leopard geckos, developing a customer base takes time and a lot of effort.

In that case I would try to find a local petstore or wholesaler who will take them. Most will for the right price, though with a petstore you'll usually have better luck getting store credit than cash. Offer them a wholesale price on the whole group(we're talking cheap here, like 8-10 dollars per animal for stuff like hets and trempers) and see what they say. If you decide you're able to ship your options are wider, I know of several large reptile dealers who will buy lots of leopard geckos for resale in places like California and Florida.

How many do you have? If you don't charge I'm sure a petstore would love to take them. You could list them on CL, ect.

I'd offer to find them homes for you, but I don't have any housing for them.

Please do not devalue these animals by giving them away. You might contact your local herpetological society and see if they can refer to a member who breeds and may be willing to buy your group. One time I bought a group of sub adults from someone in our club that needed to move them fast, 8 for $100. They were worth way more than that but we also bought a large group of snakes they had too, so it was a big package deal, around $400 for everything. At a show these same gex would have gone for 60-200 each, easily. None were normals. I still have 6 of them with my breeding groups, and have sold 2 for $60 and $75 each. It's also possible you may be able to work a deal with someone closeby that would buy your babes at a wholesale price on a regular basis. I think your herp society would be a great option to do this, and your parents would be welcomed to be involved with this type transaction. Herp societies are family friendly :) Good luck!

Just curious... if you were able to sell them to someone that would appreciate them, and be able to care for them, why wouldn't you ship them? Not judging, just asking.

Wulf, I'm thinking it has to do with the OP being 16. Obtaining all the necessary shipping materials for a group of gex, then properly packaging for shipment may be an issue of sorts. Hopefully the situation can be resolved and at least 2 people will be happy :)

Would this be an appropriate place for a lecture about responsible planning and management before initiating a breeding project?

Stop breeding. Freeze any eggs you have incubating. Adopt ALL of your geckos and other pets to someone who really cares about them.

I think thats a step too far. Just because he has a few extra geckos isn't an indication to throw out the project. He's bred them so he obviously knows how to care for them.

However, my local pet store takes in geckos from any person. I'm 13, Pretty young eh? But have sold geckos and bred them succesfuly. Sold them and made a small profit.
Age is not a problem. It's just he has extra geckos.

Try private pet stores.

YES! I didn't want to be the first one to call the BS card on this problem here but thank you. Proper planning BEFORE clutches are on the ground would make sure you don't get stuck in this situation, or endanger leos by not being equipped to take caer of a larger amount of animals until they sold. :main_thumbsup:

It IS sad. One of the major considerations before breeding your geckos is not only caring for the offspring, but the responsibility of what to do with them. In a world with so many unwanted pets, and a saturated leopard gecko market, this only perpetuates the 'disposable pet' mentality.

As I was reading this thread, going through all the post about how to get rid of hatchlings quickly, I was hoping to see some post about the problem that is really at hand. This IS a major reason there are so many problems with the reptile market. I agree, it is sad and it does shows that many people don't properly plan and manage. Hurry and help me get rid of these animals so I can breed more is something I don't want to catch myself saying anytime in my life. If I do then it is either time to get out of breeding or slim down drastically.
