My baby gecko is about 2-3 months old, and this is her 3rd shed. Yesterday she didnt shed all the way, so i figured she'll get it off. I got home from school, and it's not off. Like, half of her body (going from head to beginning of tail) is covered. there's a line seperating unshedded part and shedded. Help! How do i help her! :(

PS she has a humid hide, which is humid, and it's not covering her eyes, but it is covering her head. My old leo never had problems like this when he was young. I dont want her to die !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Take hold of the loose end of the shed and peel her. Soak her, as mentioned above to get her feet wet, then roll the loose shed off. These guys are pretty hardy and she will be OK (though a bit mad at you for messing with her, but she needs it).

if i do it at night, will she get a respitory disease (infection)? I just want my little baby to be healthy, that's all. Also, how often should i handle her? I used to handle her every day, or at least put my hand in the cage, for at most 10 minutes, except for when she shedded. I also "tossed" her food, kinda like hand feeding. :( am i doing something wrong??

Most leos will encounter some kind of shedding problem at least once in their lives. It happens. :)
Handle your leo as often as she wants to be handled, and you should be fine.

She uses the humid hide at night, doesn't she? Night is when leos are awake. It shouldn't be any colder at night, she's got a tank heater.

And by all means, don't put this off because you're freaking out about it. The sooner the better, and then you won't have to fret anymore. :)

okay. I only wanted to know because i couldnt get back home until night, and my dad keeps on saying we cant do it at night or else she'll get a respitory infection, but it's usually 80 degrees in there, AND she's got the humid hide. I'm gonna do it right now, thanks!!! ;) :main_laugh:

If you want, you can let her sit on a towel to let the extra water drip off onto it, and so the towel absors some water on her before you put her in the tank. Though my leos were usually fine after a night soak.

You do know that they are active at night and not in the day right?
Well the tank can be 90 degrees with no problems. And my male was shedding (he is an adult) and I grabbed the loose skin and he just walked the other direction making it rip then he came right back and ate it out of my hand.
If you grab the skin with something they will think they are rubbing up on something and it will make shedding go a lot faster.

that makes sense. Thanks. I just soaked her, but i wanted to ask -- should i put her in something with a little lukewarm water? I see all these sites that tell u to. Also, her skin is pretty wet, but it won't come off that well. Should i let her be or keep trying?

wow...nevermind. She actually enjoys the water. My little aquatic baby *makes kissy face*

Animals from dry habitats tend to enjoy a little water puddle once in a while, it's like rain in the desert. They just don't do well in constant humidity.

Put a rock in with it.they tend to rub against the rock to get shed off

she does have a rock. Thanks everyone for helping! :main_laugh: I mean, she doesnt have it all off yet, but she didnt mind me when i tried to get it off. But even when it's wet, it's still pretty stuck to her.

It's not that they can't be active in the day, any more than a person can't be awake at night - but since they're nocturnal, in general they will be "out and about" after nightfall.
