How many, if any of you breeder types will have tables at the White Plains, Melville NY or Manchester NH Reptile Expos?

The only one I've ever been to is the Manchester one and I'm wondering if the other ones are any bigger, or if there are others within reasonable driving distance for me.

I am not a breeder, but I'll be at the white plains show! Curious to see if any of the others from this forum will be attending. Aliza from geck cessories told me she's not attending, but would be sending her leftovers with someone else to the white plains show. I'll be interested in seeing them!

I'd be interested to hear how big the New York shows are. If they are a pretty good size, and if there will be plenty of leos there, then I might make the drive. I'd love to meet some other forumfolk in person if we could work it out!

The White Plains show is huge and a bit overwhelming. I have been about 3 times in the past few years as a shopper and in Nov. I had a corner of someone else's table. As mentioned above, in Jan. I'll probably send about 5 geckos with him (Adam Harris of "Harris in Wonderland" petstore) including one for my Secret Santa recipient. If anyone wants anything, let me know and I can send it. It takes me about 4 hours to drive there from Boston.

I have only been to the Manchester NH show once and that was 5 years ago. Since then it's always been on Saturdays and I don't travel on Saturdays. This April 11 is the first time they've had it on a Sunday and I will be vending there. I hope to have only 12 geckos left by that point to sell (I have 16 at the moment). I'll be wearing my GF T shirt, so look for me. I think the Manchester show is probably considerably smaller than the White Plains show, but larger than other New England shows (which include NE herp society in S. Weymouth south of Boston in May and Oct, and the Maine herp society show in Portland ME the last Sunday in August).

I'm coming, and I'll PM you before the show so we can trade cell numbers to meet up and yack for a minute.

Aliza, I'll stop by and say hey at the manchester show.

Hello all,

In the interest of destroying the comfortable anonymity of this forum, I have sent a PM to everyone who said they were coming to the show to give them my cell. Mainly, I would like to put names with faces, talk for a minute about what kind of stuff they keep and what we see at the show. Rest assured, I am not a stalker, but wouldn't I say that if I was?

Anyway... take your chances if you like. I'll be there fairly early with my redheaded daughter, and we will probably be gone by lunchtime.

Have fun at the show.

Hey Kevin,

Awesome meeting you at the show today. Did you end up with anything? I was completely overwhelmed by the amount of people. I like to browse quietly and slowly and there is nothing quiet or slow about that place!!!

I gave in to my anxiety and left geckoless. :( I found a couple I really liked but they were all on hold or would have soaked up ALL the cash I brought. I think I'll stick to internet browsing for my next gecko...
I did end up with a bunch of supplies, some feeders, my wife got a pacman. I was on the hunt for a T as well and ended up with a G. Pulchra (Brazilian Black) sling which I'm excited for.

Back at ya, Ronin. I didn't end up getting anything, but it was tough telling that to Emma. I would love to have a leachie, but they're a little pricey for me. I'm pretty sure the leos you were looking at that were on hold were bells, and I'm with you on the net thing. I have bought all my leos at shows, but I'm liking that method less and less. Now that I've been on this forum for a little while, I'm learning about specific breeders, seeing what they have, and feel more comfortable getting something from them. I'd probably drive to pick up though. I know it doesnt make a lot of sense, but I'd rather shake a hand and see a living gecko than email and look at pc pics.

Did you go see Gregg and Paul over at the SIM table? They were super nice and very helpful. I got a SIM from them, and they actually convinced me I only needed one instead of two. That's good long term business right there.

I also met a guy who was working a table on the stage that lives about 5 miles from where I grew up in NC. What are the chances?

Spiders? I don't know if I could ever do that one. I just don't know what's going on in their little heads, at least snakes and geckos are thinking two things at all times: foooooood.... heeeaaat..... spiders look the same all the time. They're cool, but my wife would leave me if I got one. What about those birdeaters? Those things are dinner plate sized.

Nice to meet you too. The girl I had with me is actually the oldest of my three girls, and the only one interested in reptiles. She's 7.5, and the 6 year old twins don't like that kind of stuff at all. The first show I ever went to was a few years ago in Manchester, NH, and we took everybody. I think it was three years ago and NOBODY had fun. But the important thing is that I got a king snake that was the size of a pencil, and my wife thought it would stay that way:p That's the only reason I have a snake to this day. I've upgraded to a carpet, and plan on another one "magically" appearing in the basement sometime this year. heh heh...

Anyway, if your daughter is anything like mine, she will get bored pretty quickly. But if you're running a table you can bring stuff. I'm sure you can handle it, but I'm glad to be past that stage.

Around.
Sounds great that you all got to meet. I am unfortunatly still so shy, I actually avoid all tables from people on this forum... I wouldn't know what to say.

And Kevin it must be so cool to have your daughter liking reptiles! I would love to have children who loved what I love.
