There is no kind of love like this! If you want to be wanted and loved over and over..."Man's best friend" just isnt going to cut it like this. Donut is the sweetie little Man you will ever lay eyes on. He calls for me every morning Once i wake up to come out if his cage and cuddle. He loves running around and playing with me along with my cat Licorice. But more then anything else he LOVES tummy rubs. And watching his sweet little face, just makes you want to smile. He is really a Wonderful Prairie dog! Yup that right!! and He is one of the best pets i could ever have. his still a baby So i cant wait to watch him grow up!

yup a prairie dog they make great pets, But you need to put alot of time in with these little guys. they LOVE you. Donut stays with me everyday And i only leave him for about a hour. the rest of the time his with me.

very cool. What are there cage requirements like? and diet?

really easy, donut cage is a "Parrot cage" Bars have to be no bigger then 1/2 its pretty big. he has Lots of stuff. Hides,toys,pee pan,and a wheel and some other stuff. As for food he eats the normal alfalfa pellets (a basic bag of rabbit food or anything like that) and they Love hay! and they really need wood chews. All this stuff can be found at a pet store. but what they really need is..you. once you get them, might take a few days. but you need to handle them a lot. donut will cry for me every morning. and we lay in bed lol. then i give him his morning food.Anytime i put him back he will cry. its pretty cute though. he gets up on his back legs jumps up and says "yohoo!" and falls back down. And after that he ALWAYS wants out. not really to run around. but to be held by me. Lol its one of the cutest things...in fact right now his looking at me from his cage. lol​

i got this cage brand new for $140 with 6 bucks for shipping (normally it would be around $200 for the cage but i got it on a site that sells them way cheaper)

for all the stuff inside weel,pan,hide,another hide,bowls,water bottle..around 70 bucks.

food around 30 that for a few wood chews and a huge 10 pound bag of food and a whole bag of hay and another bag of hay cubes and room to get a few treats and such.



and he was 100 bucks. BEST buy i ever made! ​

I thought i had seen alot, but this takes the cake!!LOL How do you deal with his burrowing needs, and the needs for having a group of them together? We have them here at the zoo i work at and can tell you the are not a good pet, based on these guys..lol I just dont possibly see how one can give them what they need without a huge enclosure. And to be honest i would definetly look into changing his diet. ROdent blocks and fresh veggies(ei-carrots,romaine, and apples are the best), rabbit diet is ok but you will run into renal issues and bladder issues. Those pellets are high in certain nutrients and will cause precipitate in the bladder cause long term issues. Cute little guy!

its like that 24/7... He can be barking for me running around as soon as i take him out and put him down....(you think he go running around)..Nope. runs right on to me and cuddles up..Goes to sleep as soon as i pet him lol

lol to be honest i never knew u could have prairie dogs for pets but that is awesome that he loves u so much...if I didn't have children at home i would love to get one to take their place so i felt more needed again lol

He kinda reminds me of my squirrel but I hand raised him as his mother orphaned him he was the runt of the litter but you can tell now he is a chubby little guy.
