Marcia, my first pairing as a breeder, my male prolapsed on me. I was so upset/freaked out/thought I had done something terribly wrong!!! You were there to give suggestions and talk me through this until I could get to the vet. The vet commended me on the fine care he received.....even after his hemipenis not wanting to go back in for a week, nothing became necrotic and he is completely fine. The vet really contributed this to the care he received right after the incident and for the next 2 days, until he could be seen.

These things can happen to any of us. The rest of us are just sooo blessed to have you! I sincerely wish there were some words of wisdom or great advice that I could give you as you have done for me. The only thing I can do is offer all the ((HUGS)), good vibes, and prayers that I am capable of. Try to keep your head up. You are the most loving Gecko-Mommy ever!

I called 2 of the 24-hour vet hospitals in my area, and neither of them knew what to do about a prolapsed cloaca. My vet emailed me back last night, and even though he is off on Wednesdays, told me to keep her on moist paper towel and bring her in at 7:00 this morning.

Luanne, by blizzard girl, didn't make it through the night.

I'm so sorry. Poor thing. It's a rare thing to have happen, but remember that you have/ have had so many geckos over the years that it's almost a matter of odds. You found it quickly and did the best for the poor thing. It's just really rotten luck. You did what you could.

OMG! I am so sorry to hear that! I hope the little gal's gonna be ok. I know some stuff that might help. First, stop blaming yourself, because you have done nothing worng. You have produced fine babies and this is just an unfortunate accident. Second, try to find some cotton swabs or some gauze pads to press on the "area" to see if you can hold the cloaca in and slow down the bleeding till you get her to the vet. My prayers are all for you and your baby!
