OT- My dog is going to be put down...

Yes, I know this is the wrong forum to be posting this and all. It just I know you guys more than the other forums on GF....

At 12:00 this after noon my 11 year old golden retriver, Woody, is going to put down. He has cancer in his leg and it’s spreading throught his body. I am reck right now. I know it’s best for him and all, but I will terribly miss my big boy Woody.... :bigcry: :bigcry: :bigcry: :bigcry: :bigcry: :bigcry: :bigcry:

I have a female golden retriever that is 4 years old. She is like my wife and I's 3rd kid. I cannot imagine what you are going through. I am deeply sorry for you.
The sad reality with pets is we all get attached and we all know how long they live. It makes it very,very hard..

I'm so sorry I know exactly how you feel, I had a dog that was 16 (I was 15) and I'd grown up with the dog, she wasn't sick but she did have bath arthritis, had been partially parzlyzed for a while and never bounced back and she seemed like she was in a lot of pain, so I had to make the hard decision to have her put down...it is a very hard thing to do, and my thoughts are with you!

I can relate very well as I just lost Sheba three weeks ago after her year long fight with Osteosarcoma

It's so hard to have to make a decision to end our beloved pet's life, and harder yet to say good bye. But, it is the purest act of love and compassion when they are suffering.

Nothing will ever replace the companionship and joy our animals bring us, but we can be grateful for the blessing of having them in our lives. I'm sorry you will be going through this.

I would think that if dogs are 'man's best friend', they should be able to live as long as we do...

Thanks everyone so much for all the support.

I apricate (sp) that... I am so upset right now. It's just really hard because he was my fav (I know your not supposed to have favs) out of the two of my dogs. He was my baby, I loved him and still do love him so much. It's just so hard to let him go.

I'm just glad that he is not in pain anymore. At night he would wipper because of the cancer and everthing. I just know that he is in a better place now.

I will always love you Woo...

I'm so sorry about Woody. It's really really hard for those of us that consider out pets part of our family to lose them. You will never, ever forget Woody of course, but the pain eases after awhile. Take care.
