We were at a swap meet today and saw this 1956 Chevy wagon off in the distance. Keith and I are both huge wagon fans and have always lusted after the beautifully restored Nomads and Bel Airs they auction off at Barrett Jackson or Mecum. We'd have to sell our house to ever be able to afford one of those so we almost didn't even want to walk by this one to spare us the disappointment of not being able to own it. But our curiosity got the best of us and it was within our budget!!
She's a Chevy 210 Townsman that's been upgraded to a 283 V8 and has a Powerglide automatic transmission that have both been recently rebuilt. The interior has already been restored after a new one piece floor board was installed. She's got a little rust and chrome pitting that we'll get to one day followed by a new paint job but for now she's an amazing driver. She ran perfect in downtown traffic on the 1+ hour ride home.
Needless to say, I'm smiling ear to ear and can't wait to go for a cruise tomorrow. This is the best early birthday present ever! LOL
