I really wish people would take the time to spell words the way they were meant to be spelt.
I'm not talking about misspelled words. I'm talking about crap that makes me think the person is uneducated and not worth responding to, even if they are asking an interesting question.
Also, can we get some punctuation?
Maybe I just don't like people in general.
Eh, whatever.

The LOLspeak will do that. It's not the only thing that will do it, but it will definitely do it. Every so often I end up looking around websites I am registered with, at the sorts of things people are talking about and the way they are talking about them. I often end up thinking that the people, the place, is not for me.

The last couple days here have been sort of flagrantly bad in that respect actually. Although I'm not sure it's really my place to judge, I don't think this site is supposed to be one where I'd really fit in. Some of the content and people are my kind of thing... some of the content and people makes me wish the posts all came with a button next to the ones for thanking and reporting which would allow me to electrocute the author. Painful shocks probably aren't the vibe Kelli was going for.

I like a lot of Twain's thoughts on language, the idea that it's acceptable to set aside grammatical rules if it is done with a purpose, to convey meaning and emotion. There's a point after which something just ceases to be useful though, when it's no longer communication of an idea because it's utterly unintelligible.

LOL I agree with what you are saying Russ okay I do miss spell words alot but you will never use words such as ic or half writen words. I hate that and this how I feel you can not spell the word the right way then don't post or do not send any pms.

The above times 1000. There are situations where it is appropriate to use "incorrect" grammar/spelling and so on, and situations when it is not.

I suck at spelling and use commas like they're going out of style, overuse of punctuation, haha. But I go back and edit before I post. Although my one true bugaboo is people using the wrong words in situations where you can't correct them. "No ma'am, we will spay your pet, we will not spayed/spade it. And the past tense of the word is not spayeded/spaded"... Wish I could say this... Mumble mutter grump.

I have to agree with everything that has been said in this thread. This text talk and lack of punctuation is really getting annoying. There is nothing worse then trying to decode a conversation because someone else is too lazy to look over something before they hit send.

I don't even bother to try decoding it anymore. I just pass it bye.
It's a real shame too. The poster might have something interesting to say or a question I could help with.

One more thing, Spell check is available for most browsers and comes standard on web enabled phones. USE IT.

There are some people that are not good spellers and by making fun of them is not going to help matters much.

most common conversations contain material and words that people should have learned by intermediate school or middle school (unless you are foreign). but yes some people are not good spellers.
hey i am not a great speller but i use spellcheck.
i do not think anyone is making fun of people who can not spell but perhaps ranting about the lazy people who know better but still do it.
