Im so pissed. I was in their and I payed 30$ for a leo 2 weeks ago. I got the sand out of his system and got him eating steadily, and then today he just stops eating. I put him on his own due to the fact that incase he has something contagious i dont want it to spread to my other leo's,. So while hes alone... he poops a huge puddle of diareahh. I call petco, and im 1 day after the 14 day gaurantee so they wont pay for anything and im stuck with a sick gecko. Im only 15 how am i supposed to afford a vet bill. I really wanna help him get better but i cant. Someone please tell me what to do.

2 times today... he never poops 2 times in one day, none of my other leos do either... and no i will not go get a refund. Were talking about an animal here... not some video game that came cracked. If I bought the animal im responsible for its well being whether its my fault or not. I just would like to know what im supposed to do/ if theres like a cheaper way. Like you know when your a kid and your mom says oh you just got a cough take some cough syrup. Well... is there a "cough syrup" for leos?

There's no cheap way of taking care of a living breathing creature. That's part of you being responsible for the well being of the animal. Life's full of tough situations in which the cheap way out will not get you anywhere. Either goto the vet and pay it yourself or take it back. If your looking for a cheap pet, I suggest a goldfish.

I'm sorry you are having these issues. Unfortunately, it's one of the consequences of buying a gecko from a store that specializes in pet food and supplies. :(

Ok sorry to be blunt here but No there is no "cough syrup" You should either take the Leo back to the store and be done with it, or take a sample of the poop to the vet to have a fecal done, and handle all the rest of the issues and vet bills that arise because like you said you bought this animal and you are responsible for its well being. I know its an animal and its sad that stores sell sick, under weight, too young animals...but if you can't afford the vet care then take him back and get a refund and let them take him to the vet. This is kinda black and white...you need a fecal which is going to cost money, antibiotics will cost you money, if treatment doesn't work or he worsens it gonna cost money....you see what Im saying.

Im sorry about the leo :(

Ill see if i can get my mom to help me. She told me from the start though that she wouldnt help. I really love this little guy though. When i got him he looked like he really needed me and i helped him, i felt so great when he got the sand out of his poop and he started moving about and now this happens. I just feel terrible. I wish petco would just say that i bought him 1 day later so i can get him looked at

Is this the same gecko you were going to breed? You can afford racks and an incubator but you can take this animal to the vet. This is your investment. Defend it with your life. We told you this endeavor would cost a lot. That is all I have to say.

I will get him checked out becuase i realized that if those worms were moist then they were fresh.... Im kind of worried. Also do you know what morph it is? I think its normal because i got him at petco but it has that y shape on its head and none of the others had that so i got him cuz he was unique, so i hope hes not sick i really love him

FORGOT TO GET HIM CHECK OUT HUH?? First animal care lesson "follow thru and responsibility"

I appreciate you for not making me think I'm stupid. That is a great point and if it happens this way I will definately get one from a online site. Were starting small and we have alot of money saved up for summer an this is what our summer project is gonna be this year. If it. Gets overwhelming I always havey stepbrother to turn too. He loves all geckos and is like my gecko encyclopedia haha

Second lesson is don't lie to your elders we can smell that from a mile away, kiddo!
And again FACE PALM!!!ALL I GOT TO THESE TWO THREADS IS A BIG OL FACE PALM!!!!!

ACTUALLY... i did get him checked out. And he was fine. Thats why hes here today. So thanks for your input. But there is no need to be a SNOB

I have been respectful on here and i really dont appreciate that. I got stimpy looked at and he was fine. I am planning on doing the same thing for Ren once i get the money. I got in a predicament with money and came up short recently. I was just wondering if theres something i could do for him in the meantime while i cant get to the vet.

The best thing to do is just call a vet and explain your situation. If they help you out and let you make payments then problem solved. If not then you will have to figure something out. There is just no other way for you to solve the issue at hand anyway you want to try to explain it. The answer will not change.

Your intentions may be good with your respect and love for animals but this doesn't mean that your love will get you through any issue you will have. It takes money, time, and dedication. You just may not have the means to do everything correctly at your age.

Probably not.

If a vet did that every time they heard that, they'd never get paid.
They also paid quite a bit for their schooling, how would that be fair to them?

Sick geckos = $$$$$ and there's no getting around it. Even if there are things that can be done at home, they cost money. So, this new gecko was put in a tank with your other without quarantine?
