Pick up a new pal today, is this a Black Pearl Leo?

Rescued from a Petco today, thinking it might be Black Pearl or partly due to its coloring, never seen one like this.

Cold as in physically cold? And I bought it, I just say rescue because the previous animals I have bought from them are almost always in poor condition.

As far as issues, I've noticed it seems to be bloated, the belly is very large.

As terrible as this sounds I was hoping that it would be a Black Pearl, but it kind of seems sick now that I brought it home, slow and sluggish movements.

Honestly, if you are already noticing problems you should take it back & inform the store.

If you think he's just cold, let him warm up a couple days. If he still seems to be having problems, take him back. Petco has a 15 day guarantee on their live animals.

Why is it people throw around the term "rescue animal" when they are in reality purchasing an animal at a retail outlet or from an individual? Animal rescues do not purchase animals to spend more money on vet bills and medications and invest countless hours of their time rehabilitating these poor creatures. This gecko is not a rescue, it was bought. It may not be in the greatest of health, but it was bought and made room for another gecko in the same tank at the store.

When you look at it like I do, the way the gecko looked it wouldn't have been purchased and eventually very and end up in the freezer.
I didn't literally mean rescue and I'm sorry that it apparently offends you so much.

When it warms up and still stays that dark, you have a hypermelanistic Normal (with more dark pigment). That's something very nice. Black Pears would probably cost 10,000 bucks or so; PETCO would never have them ;)

Hope it stays/gets healthy for you. Doesn't look too bad! Give it a little time to settle in.

Have fun with your new pet!

Thanks Chrissy, I have 2 other geckos in there already, about 2-4 months old so I hope they get along. I was kind of thinking that it was a random mutation and it actually was a Black Pearl and the breeder they buy from just didn't catch it lol.
Definitely gonna be hard if I had to bring it back =[ Leos are easy to get but hard to get rid of!

Its been at petco in the tank for about 2 weeks to my knowledge with all 7-8 of the other ones and the others dont seem sick.
*This forum is proving to be more brutal than I had imagined. Wouldn't it come across as more helpful than an attack if you were to suggest I quarantine?

Just observed the new guy for a bit and he appears to be a lot better than when I brought him home, he is basking on his rock and looks to have lightened up a bit. His tongue is a nice bright pink and he isn't cold when I pick him up.

Thought it was unique and after looking into it thought it might be a Black Pearl gecko.
Now I'm being attacked because others say it may be sick and infect my other 2.
It wasn't as thin as others in the tank also at Petco.

It doesn't act different than my other geckos did at first, just little things make me think it is a bit ill.

This isn't an attack, just advice for the well-being of your pets. Some of it may be phrased a little testily, but it's still sound advice. New pets should be housed separately when possible for a quarantine period, and leopard geckos will generally need to be housed individually once they reach breeding age/size anyhow. Getting upset is understandable since you weren't expecting it; *not* following the advice just because you're upset is probably not the best choice for your leos, though.

I got my first two together a few weeks ago and now this one from the same group. The other two don't seem to have problems with each other and I often find them sleeping and laying very close. I have seen most people housing 2-4 adults together no problems, assuming there aren't multiple males.

When it comes to my geckos I like to view as If I were that little gecko would I wanna live here/alone, etc. This is why I spent close to 200 on supplies for them, I like them to be a little spoiled.

Additional information, I house them in a 20g tank with a dual light fixture with temp always around 95. They have 2 hides and a humid box, as well as fresh food and water bowls. There is no neglect here at all, my girlfriend and I love these little guys and take great care of them.

Do you have another tank/container you can house him in, even temporarily, to see if he starts displaying obvious symptoms of sickness that might be transmissible to your other geckos?
