This guy came out the incubator around 5:54am from my mack snow x enigma and what we have here is a mack snow that seem to have hatched premature, if you look close his eyes are smaller then the average hatchling

i would look close to see if he has eyelids. if he has eyelids and even though he is premature a with a little TLC he should be fine.

It might be most humane to put him down. If he has no eyelids he'll have no way to moisten his eyes and they'll eventually dry out. You'd have to administer eye drops a few times a day and handfeed him his whole life :/

i was going to suggest that if he did not have any eyelids :(
i am sorry it happens sometimes. sadly, it's part of breeding. deformed leos are going to pop up from time to time :(

Hey man yeah sounds just like a birth deformity. I hatch one every now and then that has a eye deformity, even hatched one that didn't even have eyes at all. Just one of those things.

I am not sure if he's premature, but definitely has the eyelid deformity, which could have happened due to temperature fluctuation (at least that is the most common reason)

Congrats on the Mack Enigma!! Just leave it a moist hide of paper towels and leave it be.. it should get the cord unstuck after a day or so, and hopefully will be fine :)

I would suggest if it has no eyelids and cant see it needs to be put down and here is my opinion on keeping it. If it has no eyelids you are going to have to get eyedrops for it. One would assume you would have to take it a vet to determine the proper meds to administer for that, then the vital health of this leo is resting on you multiple times a day to administer that meds. Euthanasia is part of the breeding process and I cant tell you how many snakes and lizards I have had to put down to deformity but it becomes what is best for the animals well being.
