Allow me to show you something. This is my very first leopard gecko hatchling. And this is what his belly looked like when he hatched. My first instint was to cull, and I went to go set up to do so, however...something told me not to.
He seemed active, he just had this giant "hernia" looking thing on his belly...the opening was HUGE! I put him on wet paper towels in a warm, moist cage and decided it was sink or swim...that i'd make my decision tommorow if he hasn't made it for me already. I woke up the next day, and this is what his belly looked like.
I am so glad I didn't make the mistake of culling him. Anyways, my point is, there's usually a little spot after they lose their sac. I would imagine it most likely wouldn't have made it more than a few hours if there was truly a hole in the abdomen.
