I've seen a lot of good names on here, so everyone post their reptiles' names and meanings! Maybe this post will help people who are having problems thinking of names ;)

Our leos:
Osiris, Isis, and Nefertari (Egyptian god/goddess names) - Mack Snow group
Kakarot (from DBZ), Skarr ("dragon name" meaning avid, ravenous), and Ryxx ("dragon name" meaning rain, water) - MS Patty group

Our beardies:
Bahamut (from Final Fantasy) and Icarus (Greek god)

They don't really mean anything. I got the names from manga characters (I'm such a little kid). Hiei was named because the character he's named after has a white stripe in his hair and when Hiei was a baby he had a black head with a white stripe. Yukina was named because in that same manga, the character Yukina is Hiei's sister. Rem is just named Rem because he looks like the chacter he's named after.

I saw a resemblance in the faces. Especially when Rem's pupils aren't dilated.

Epyon is my dark patternless rescue leo. Its greek for, "next" because it was my second leo.

Pazuzu is my larger crested gecko, the name is from an episode of Futurama, it was the name of a gargoyle.

Mingo is my smaller crested gecko, the name comes from an old, old, cartoon show from the 80s called the adventures of the little koala. It was a character from that show.

My first leopard gecko still doesn't have a name yet.

I love manga names, there's always a good story behind them.. Rem really does look like the character, that's awesome!

Yeah unfortunately the character is a girl and Rem is a boy. Oh well. The resemblance was too much so I named him it anyway. We normally just call him Remmy.

1. Hidey McG--normal male, named by my 4 yr old because he always hid.
2. G3, female jungle, named by my 6 yr old because Gabe is weird & I accept it! lol. Note she was formerly called Ms. GP for Gecko Power, but underwent a name change for reasons only a 6 year old can understand.
3. Ichyurockgo, male Tremper albino, named by my 7 yr old because he made up the name. It only took me 3 days to figure out how to spell it.

(ages of my kids given as of the time of the naming. My boys are 5 & 7 now)

4. Ferrous, wicked cool male crestie. Named becaue ferrous has to do with iron. He's a really cool rusty color when he's fired up. Did I mention he's cool? Named by me.

Leonardo, after Leonardo da Vinci.
A very talented and famous artist from the 15th century. Tho, not my favorite artist of that time, his works, especially The Virgin and Child with St. Anne
180px-Leonardo_da_Vinci_020.jpg
has had such a great impact on my life and the way I make art.
The most impressive effect in the picture is not visible in the picture, which is a shame. He has the ability to make the skin glow and look so alive with oil paints.

Anyways. I named her Leonardo (aka Lenny) because her colors are just stunning.

I've seen the name Pazuzu in some Final Fantasy games, but I also heard the name from somewhere else too, so I looked it up... He is the "king of demons in Assyrian and Babylonian mythology. He also represented the southwestern wind, the bearer of storms and drought. Recent research suggests Pazuzu may have been associated with a cold, northeasterly wind. Pazuzu was said to be invoked in amulets which combat the powers of the malicious goddess, and hated rival, Lamashtu, who was believed to cause harm to mother and child during childbirth. Although Pazuzu is, himself, an evil spirit, he drives away other evil spirits, thus protecting humans against plagues and misfortunes."

I love the name too, it has a nice ring to it.. Great reptile name!!

leo names

None of my Leopard Gecko names were chosen because of a specific 'meaning', I just chose them because they fit my geckos personality/look, or well, I just liked the name. haha.

So... here it goes!

1) Sunglow Carrot Head Male - Mushu (for the personality, haha)
2) Sunglow Female - Phoenix
3) Mack Snow Tremper Albino Male- Yukon
4) Mack Snow Tremper Albino Female- Alaska
5) Mack Snow Female - Lucy (she is just crazy and fun... )
6) Jungle Carrot Tail Tremper Albino Female - Lil' Val (Valentine) (because of the heart shape on her head)
7) Jungle Carrot Tail Tremper Albino Female - Stella
8) Bell Albino Enigma Male- Taz - for his spunky personality.
9) Tangerine Enigma Male- yet to be named!!
10) Bold Stripe Bell Albino Male- Aragorn (Yes... it's from Lord of the Rings...) :p
11) Stripe Bell Albino Female- Arwyn (Yes, Also from Lord of the Rings!) :main_laugh:
12) Bold Stripe 'Bandit' Female- Bandita (because there is nothing more fitting to her fun, spunky little attitude.) :D
13) Tremper Albino Female - Twinks - because she likes the waxworms a litttttle too much. lol. "Twinkie"
14) Super Hypo Tangerine Female - Tangie (pronounced like Angie with a 'T')
15) High Yellow - Dobbie (Also... from... Lord of the Rings. lol )

That is my current collection! I enjoy naming my geckos, and take a lot of time coming up with just the right name for them. Maybe I'm just a little crazy?

I hope this helped anyone who is having a tough time coming up with names for their Leos!

No no, not crazy at all... We also take extra care in choosing a name ;) I just thought it'd be interesting to see what others chose and why :)

I think the name Twinks is just too cute! Thanks for sharing!

Here's mine. I make use of the color chips at the paint store as you'll see:

Leos:
Eragon --named by my kids
Phoenix--pet store rescue I revived
Saffron--paint chip
Oskar --don't know why; I'm into unfashionable first names

Ruby
Rainbow
Sunset --very uncreative with these last 2
Citrus --SHTCT, more paint chips
Ivory --snow female
Cameo --my albino hermit gecko; makes occasional cameo appearances
outside of her hide
Topaz
Savannah --beats me

Day geckos
Tempo
Kiwi --another paint chip

banded geckos
Tic
Tac (I had a Toe, but she didn't make it)

crestie
Spencer (see above, under "Oskar")

Beardie
Ollie --a rescue who came to me with that name.

I don't name all of my reptiles, just a few. I haven't named a reptile in a while.

* Banon- means queen. My first leopard gecko; standard morph; she was the queen, and still is.
* Anubis- named when I got him, but I love Egyptian myths and Anubis is my favorite Egyptian God; tremper albino leopard gecko
* Mali- bearded dragon. Her colors are bright and yellow, so yellow made me think of Bali, which led me to Mali
* Kina- (pronounced Ken-a) bearded dragon named because she's fragile looking and Kina means China, and fine China is fragile
* Damian- named by my on-again/off-again boyfriend. (Ball Python)

RIP
* Buffy- named when I was going with a 'B' name theme; 2nd gecko; tremper albino; she ate with a passion and Buffy just fit.
* Indi- named after Indianapolis 500; het tremper; I don't really remember, but I think there was a woman driver racing the year Indi was born

Haven't name a reptile since Damian. But I'm debating on naming my crested geckos.
