I have named some of my geckos but not all of them. Here they are in no particular order:

Halloween, Crush, Cornbread, Eh Hee, Gravedigger, Granny, Rapunzel, Bartender. They all have one thing in common lets see if anyone can figure it out.

I've seen the name Pazuzu in some Final Fantasy games, but I also heard the name from somewhere else too, so I looked it up... He is the "king of demons in Assyrian and Babylonian mythology. He also represented the southwestern wind, the bearer of storms and drought. Recent research suggests Pazuzu may have been associated with a cold, northeasterly wind. Pazuzu was said to be invoked in amulets which combat the powers of the malicious goddess, and hated rival, Lamashtu, who was believed to cause harm to mother and child during childbirth. Although Pazuzu is, himself, an evil spirit, he drives away other evil spirits, thus protecting humans against plagues and misfortunes."

I love the name too, it has a nice ring to it.. Great reptile name!!

Thank you, yes i knew all of that demon mythology, i found it when i was looking up the name. I got it in my head and couldnt get it out, so yes i agree, it does have a nice ring to it!

All of our reptiles are named after a horror/spooky based theme. So far we have a Norman, Manson, Jaws, Lucifer, VooDoo, Sybil, Blair, Tabitha, Ginger, Rosemary, Cordelia, Hannibal, Buffy, Fester, Ripper, Selene, Carrie, Chucky, Cruella, Judith, Poe, Damien, and Elvira. I'm waiting on some new ones named Vivian, Marion, Clarice, Endora, and Loomis.

My leo is named Bandie, because, well, she's got bands. (Original, I know). And the dog is named after a song by my favorite band, Steely Dan. SHe's called Josie.

We like to read alot of mythology and science fiction and tend to get most of our names from them. A couple are just obvious names- Mack is a mack snow and Leo is our high yellow.

The names of my geckos don't follow any particular order... I'm terrible naming things so when I hear a name I like I just try to remember it for future use. They are:

La Gecka (normal female) - Means something like "the female gecko" in Spanish. Since she was the first, and the only one for a long time, she didn't need a name. I write it capitalized an all.

Yago (male SHTCTB) - Since leos are from the Middle East we wanted something that sounded moorish. He ended up being called like the parrot in Aladdin.

Godot (female enigma het Bell) and Franziska (female Bell hybino) - They are names from prosecutors of a videogame about attorneys I'm playing, lol. Godot is a guy's name but we thought she was a male before.

Rogelio (male tangerine Bell) - Rogelio is the name of a teacher I had in high school that I liked a lot, lol! Rogelio was so cool he deserved a gecko tribute. Also sounds like "rojo" (red) and he is definitely red!

Pascuala (female Bell) - I couldn't think of a name for her and just asked a friend to name her.

Both Rogelio and Pascuala are really old-fashioned Spanish names, the kind you expect elderly people to have. There seems to be a trend here to name pet reptiles like that, specially adult people (the young usually prefer names that sound 'cool' rather than 'funny'). Just a random curiosity.

Tequila (female tangerine Bell) - No need to explain what it means. I just liked the sound of it.

Ciruela (female Bell snow) - Means 'plum'. Just because she is kinda purplish.

Koi (female RE enigma) - Because a friend pointed out that her colors reminded him to koi carps. Also, I think it means 'love' in japanese. I thought it was a cute name for a girl.

Lavi (male Bell snow) - My boyfriend was reading a manga and said he liked the name of one of the characters for a gecko. I liked it too and that's all. Isn't it scary when all conversations casually end up in 'Oh, I like that name for a gecko' or 'Wouldn't that bookcase make a good rack?'

Weirdly enough, we always end up lengthening the short names with diminutives (la Geckita, Godotita, Yaguito...) or shortening the long names (Ciru, Tequi, Roge, Pascu...). The only ones who preserve their names unharmed are Koi and Lavi, lol.

Those are some very well-picked names!! I think Yago and Tequilla are my favorite :) And you're right, Koi means love or tender passion. It can also mean "ancient ways, or the feelings of the ancients," so that's pretty cool too!

Mystic : based from the x-man character's name.

Vincent : he was one of my first hatchlings and was originally named Valentine because "he" was supposed to be a "she" and he had a heart shape on his back. So I took the name Vincent from the Final Fantasy 7 character Vincent Valentine.

Puchiwan: Roughly Japanese for small one, this is my little dwarf lvpa I got from Ryval.

Hikage: Japanese for sunshine, my tang girl

My gargoyle gecko is Latte, I don't know why but I have named all the rhacs I have kept after coffees of some kind, they just look the part I guess.

Not a gecko but my rosy boa is McLovin... NICE! lol

What a great idea for a thread :main_thumbsup:

We have some really random names. We adopted our first leo, so he came with his name (Spot). We also incubated an egg for the same person who gave us Spot when they moved out of state. The mother's name is Ozzie, so we named her baby Izzy. We adopted a tiny little gal from Paul Sage and named her Clementine because she's my darlin' ;) We also went through a spurt when our 6 year old wanted to name some, so they ended up with names of his friends at school (Mary Mo, Ojai and Alex).

We have some "circle butts" so they have ball names (Spalding, Wilson and Callaway).

I guess my name "theme" is to give geckos names that remind me of the breeder's city. We have several from Jeremy Letkey and they all have Chicago Cubs names (Wrigley, Ivy, Addison, Waveland, Sheffield, Scout, etc.)

We also bought a pair from the "Ghetto Gecko". He's from New York, so their names are Sinatra and Long Island Lolita :p

Our three have boring names compared to all of the well thought out names I am seeing, but I am a simple person so simple worked for us

Ozzy- The Blizzard of Oz is his full title (blizzard)

Alex- (Temper Albino) we weren't sure of her gender and decided to keep it a name that could pass gender lines

Toni- (Hypo) Again, it's an easy name for the 3 year old to learn and it works for either gender
