Secret Summer Solstice Exchange?

During the Secret Easter Bunny Exchange, someone mentioned they would like if there was one in the summer and brought up the Summer Solstice. I'd like to arrange an exchange, but am curious if enough people are interested.

If so, sign-ups will start asap. The Summer Solstice is June 21, so gifts will need to be sent by then if we're going to do this.

Yeah I am torn on whether it's something to do or not, we don't need 10 exchanges per year lol.. just wanted to see if people wanted to participate since it was mentioned during the Secret Easter Bunny exchange and I volunteered to do it if enough people got involved

About twice a year sounds good to me. If you count the time from the sign-up period to the gift giving deadline, there just isn't that much time in between if we do them more than three times a year.

Well sign-ups for this specifically could last through May and then everyone has 3 weeks to send their gifts.. but I am wondering if having this would be pushing the gift exchanges a little much lol. If 20 people vote yes on the poll, we'll do it.

I wouldnt mind doing it, BUT (big but) I would need till July 11th (thats when the next closest reptile show is for me) plus a day or two more to get things together for shipping. We all know reptile shows have the most unique items, at more than fair prices, If I would be allowed to send a "late" gift, I am more than willing, I had fun during Secret Bunny, I love giving gifts to others! Plus the excitement of not knowing whats In store for you

If you dont mind me saying *politely of course* I think It would make more sense to space these out better, Easter wasnt all that long ago, I think late august or early september as a farewell to summer exchange would be better timinig, that gives about 4 months between exchanges and spreads out the excitement

I love exchanges and had fun last time, and I am willing to do it again, if there could be some felxibility in shipping time

I agree with you on this. Or even the farewell to summer idea as well. Christmas & Easter are fairly close, so I think that if we did do it, more time between Easter and this one would be better.

I know everyone likes the "live" gifts and its always nice giving and getting a higher price gift but why not set an amount on this exchange at 10 or 15 dollars. That way maybe more of the younger members could take part and it wouldnt be a huge expense for anyone. We can save the higher price gifts for christmas and this would just be like a little end of summer mood picker upper,lol.

I like that idea too Ruby, I spent a lot of money last time not complaining I had fun knowing I was going to make someones day, but we all know reptile supplies (and just reptiles in general) get expensive quick (unless you have eggs cookin and could spare a baby ) I wouldnt mind a price range, 15 is a lil cheap since a lot of places sell hides for about that but still a reasonable price range wouldnt be a bad idea

I am very torn still.. I said if I could get 20 votes, I'd do this exchange.. we have 19 votes. However, I am leaning more towards being convinced that now just isn't a good time and is too soon after the Secret Easter Bunny.

I think we'll just wait at least another month or so for another exchange, unless someone else wants to arrange one. Thanks for the input everyone

I don't think an exchange in the middle of summer is a good idea, at least if geckos will be shipped like in previous exchanges.

Yeah, that's a bummer. I'm still sorry about that (even though it wasn't my fault). I think waiting until December is a better idea, too. I was only asking because I got a couple PMs asking about a summer exchange.
