Well the top 2 pics the Leo's seem to have the undesirable "Bug Eye" defect. I know Ive seen in past posts a few have noted that its cute but really its a birth defect and should not be bred but kept as a pet only. The thing with birth defects like "Bug Eyes" and the kinked tails I see on some Enigma's is that those are the visible defects... what defects do they harbor internally??? Im also surprised by all the kinked tails I see in the Enigma's that are being sold, an animal with a defect like that that is sold and then bred to others keep the defect in the gene pool. I realize people need to make money off their Geckos/investments but it really is a shame that in SOME of the ads Ive seen they dont note that a defective animal should be kept as a pet only and isnt suitable for breeding. There are many inexperienced first time breeders who buy these things without realizing they are further compounding the problem. Sorry about the rant and getting a bit off topic ;)

The eyes compared to what you see on average are just bigger. They have a wide eye look if you will. Many times animals like that will be offered at a very discounted price but not always. The animals in the pics look to me to have very large eyes.

My your leopards die of Sand Impactation.

That is straight up mean and immature as a 39 year old person to say may your leaopards die, or maybe i missinterpreted it.

I think i agree with this statement, the eyes do appear on the larger size of the spectrum.

Overall- they are still great looking Leo's- if you want them as pets I say Go For It!

And as much debate as there is on leo's and sand the fact is do you want to risk impaction or not. Its not guaranteed to happen, and yes at full grown or over 6" the chances decrease, but do you want to even risk it? It's ultimately up to you:)

Good luck!

It can be. if you happen to drop a mealie, the gecko will go after it and get a mouthful of sand. make sense? also, someone said before, the gecko might taste the sand to see what it is, and he will still get sand in his mouth. Its true, if you've noticed how often geckos flick their tongues out :D. Even a little bit of sand can cause impaction. My opinion, no matter if the gecko has been on sand before or not, you should take it off to prevent impaction in the future :). Just my $0.02

I was not saying you wanted to risk it, quit being so defensive. I said it was 'ultimately up to you' to do what you want.

Emily is right. This thread has also answered all your questions and much more then that. Any other questions people might be able to help you with?

Wow, what a thread!

I think everything's pretty much been said and dealt with, there is no need for more explanation on what happened.

I like the bug eyes myself, I think one of our geckos is going to end up looking like that as an adult. We won't be breeding it anyway, as it is already our own "special needs" gecko.

Wow, I'm really disappointed at where this thread went. I'm moving it to the general care and husbandry section since that's what it's primarily about and I'll leave it open for the moment since the immature arguing seems to have stopped. If the arguing and name calling continues it will be closed.

After further consideration, I'm just going to close this thread. If anyone would like to learn about the dangers of keeping Leos on sand please use the search function.
