Generally what I do to get a young snake to feed is try about every 3 days. Your persistence will pay off. You've got quite a few weeks worth of failed tries before things get critical, so there's really no need to worry.

Did the person you bought it from give you any indication of what they were feeding?

you do realize that green trees are quite different in getting to eat than most other snakes and can be very finicky and downright hard to get to eat?

The guy I purchased it from guaranteed me that it was feeding. The snake is active, drinks water regularly... I just think that it's a little stressed and finicky like Robin said. I'm going out to buy a live pinkie today and I'm going to try with that.

Got the pinky and tried the forceps thing, the snake didn't take it. It just wanted to explore.. So now I have it in a brown paper bag with a delicup for it to perch on, and the pinkie in the delicup....

Any more suggestions? Lol

i would put him in a smaller container. a shoebox with a cross like perch a small water bowl and leave him alone in the dark and out away from loud noised. quick checking on him and stuff and let him be. then in a week or so offer the live food again.

But Josh, did the person you bought it from say what they were feeding the snake? Did they feed the snake rodents, or chicks, or lizards? There are quite a few possibilities. I don't think "tapping" the snake with a food item is going to do anything except make it more reclusive.

i'd try placing the snake and the pinky in a shoebox, or as i do with my pueblan milk, right in a brown paper bag. i cant get my pueblan to eat if its inside his enclosure. but the second i drop the pinky with him in a paper bag its instantly grabbing it.

i know pueblans and GTP's are two totally different worlds, but it could be worth a shot

I've already tried the paper bag trick. I don't know what the guy was feeding it prior to me getting it. I'm going to leave the pinky in it's enclosure over night tonight. Then I will try again in the next few days to try to feed it. I don't think that there is any reason to be alarmed right now of it not eating. Thanks guys! :)

they do not eat chicks well not at that size at least (and i have never heard of people even feeding chicks to adult green trees, but it wouldn't surprise me if the adults would take chicks.) tapping the prey item right behind the head at where the beginning of the neck is, allot of time will result in a natural response to strike and wrap. once you get them feeding well. there is no need for this.

i suggest you contacts kevin or charolette barnett @ http://www.ectothermics.com/index.htm or hillary webb @ http://www.captivebredpythons.com/

both of whom i have green tree pythons from. we have been keeping green tree pythons since 2001 and have knowledge of feeding neonates. but i have never bought an import because of the problems that can occur with them.

green tree pythons are not a snake for a beginner and when buying one CB is the way to go even though you may pay a bit more. these are generally for the more experienced keepers and you must do your homework on them before committing to one.

I did do my homework on them, and I consulted 4 different people at the show that I hold in high regard about whether or not I should purchase from the person I did, or not. Each person didn't have any affiliations with the vendor at all, so I believe that I made a good decision. Anyways, I think that a little more time left alone will help this little one out. Thanks for all your help Robin, I appreciate it. If the problem still persists I will gladly get in touch with the people that you have mentioned. Thanks!

josh put him in something smaller like a shoe box. paper towels on the bottom and use some wooden dowels from the local home depot etc to make some perches. too big a place and too much open or viewable areas can stress them out. no need for day type lighting. make sure he is around 85 degrees. put in in a low traffic, low noise area. and only open the enclosure to mist him.. a light gentle spray.

josh as far as the comment i made above yours it is more for ink scorpion than you. no worries :)

good deal. give him a week to settle in and keep the amount of time you open the lid to a minimum, to spray him. do not sit and watch him or move his enclosure around.

Some do stay yellow as adults. There's also a locale that is known for yellow adults. I forget where, but I've seen them called Canary.

Josh, good luck! Also make sure you're giving it appropriate sized perches.

I guess I will just wait patiently. We did offer it appropriate perches... I'm actually going to go spray it right now.

GTPS are my passion snake, altho I don't own any right now. But I can easily say I am jealous ;)

Robs has given you great suggesstions, the only thing I can rack off the top of my head is splitting the skull like its commonly done with corn hatchlings. Two totally different snakes, but its worth a shot? Maybe brain juice will get him a bit more intrested? :)
