So my girlfriend has been on dialysis for about 5 years! It has been a long 5 years for her. I have been with her for 2+ years of it and can only imagine what it has been like for her before I was with her! I fell in love with her and didn't think twice about her health issues. She was so loving and caring! We have spent many long nights in the emergency room and in the hospital. It has been hard on her with many complications.

We are up at Mayo Clinic in Minnesota which is the best hospital in the world. wonderful nurses, doctors, and top of the notch technology. This last friday she had a kidney transplant from which her best friend had donated her kidney, you know thats a true friend! I will owe her friend for the rest of my life even though she did it because she loved my girlfriend so much. I got tested but didn't match up well with her anti-bodies. The kidney started working as soon as it was in and started to produce urine. :) I never thought i would be so excited when a grown adult produed urine. Its a miracle.

Its been a emotional last couple days but its all been worth it. We are not out of the water but its looking very good so far. This has definitly been the best Christmas present ever. :main_thumbsup: God has definitly been looking out for us!

The medications well be hard on her and make her behave different. Stick with it be there and the wonderful years well come.
So glad she was able to get a transplant and things are looking good.

Wow! What an amazing story. I am so glad she is doing well and I really hope that it continues to go smoothly. She seems like a lucky girl to have had you by her side! And to have friends that were willing to donate kidneys! Wow! I wish you guys the best Christmas!

Thanks for all the positive comments everyone. Its great that people here on GF are so supportive in times like this. Theres many wonderful and thoughtful people here that are so great to know. :2thumbsup:

I couldn't be any more happier with the way things are going. It was a very risky operation that the doctors didn't think would go as good as it has. The antibodies were alot higher then they would typically be for them to do a kidney transplant. You should look it up about the Mayo Clinic and doing transplants on people who arn't perfect matches. They are doing state of the art processes that have never been done befor in the past. It has been a process that has taken the last 6 months.

As for the happy that a adult is producing urine, lol, it is one of those things that really made all of us tear up and get emotional about. Yes, i am a grown man who will admit he cries. :bigcry: We joke about it now but when we got the news it was one of the happiest moments of the day on friday. It ment everything was going good and that the kidney was starting to work. Usually you get excited when a little kid goes potty, lol!

Once again, thanks for all of the support from everyone. I am exhausted and basically a zombie. I have slept in the hospital room every night in a recliner just to be by her side. Haven't really slept more then a hour in a row because of all the nurses and doc's coming in all the time but its all worth it to be by her side.

Well I have some great updates on my girlfriend! The Doc says that things could not be going better right now. The kidney is working great and they have been amazed on how well she is doing. She is more then likely to be going home tomorrow which is amazing. I am so proud on how well she is doing and how tough she is. I have always said that she is tougher then I am. She is amazing to me and I love her with all my heart. Its be a emotional ride but the end is end sight.

The Mayo clinic is a top notch hospital and is the best in American if not the world. The Doctors and Nurses are so nice and have such great personalities and are so kowledgable.

Like I said, this is the best Christmas ever and nothing will ever top this.
