 As of 8:50pm tonight, our girl Dezi is a mommy to 4 BEAUTIFUL, HEALTHY, and HUNGRY puppies. :sweetheart:

She did fantastic for her first time, stepped up and was cleaning them like a pro. Labor went well...and lasted 2 hours. Pretty quick! Final count (well as of now...it's been almost an hour and a half since the last) is 3 boys, one girl.

Best of all...she had them the day before my birthday! She really is a momma's girl :)

So without further adieu...here are some quick snap shots before we clean everything all up, and a quick video I was able to get while my husband was rinsing her off real quick!

Anxious daddy, Kaos (he was actually really calm, and that helped Dezi a lot!)

Dezi, with MoMo who we called the "labor coach" :main_laugh: The whole labor he was lurking nearby, and was SO happy to finally be let near Dezi. She started cleaning him as soon as she could reach him. They love each other :main_yes:

What great looking puppies! I’ve never bred a dog of mine own, but I’ve delivered enough puppies, with my father being a vet! Keep us updated on them.

Thanks Nick, they are all VERY healthy.

The breeding was not planned. We went out of town for a little while (my husband and I) and got a call from my MIL (who was babysitting the dogs) about halfway through our trip saying "the dogs did IT" lol. Turns out Dezi had a dry heat, 2 months before she was due to have one, and Kaos got her. Good thing our dogs are from some of the top lines in the US, and of age!

Congrats, Heather! And a Happy Birthday to you! :balloon: :balloon:

They look wonderful! Mama looks tired, but happy! That pic with Momo is just too cute! I'm glad she had a good labor coach! ;) Wow! 2 hours!?!? Lucky girl, she is! And, I expect, you as well! I know it's probably more nerve-racking for us than them! ;) lol

Thanks Mari :)

She was VERY tired. Poor thing passed right out last night, and only got up once for water, then straight back in with the little ones....a GREAT mommy!

Lol...and thank gosh for me having been through all this before! I wasn't nearly as terrified as I was the first time. That, and Dezi was just like our first girl...wanted me right next to her the whole time :)

Of course! I'll be posting updates often :) We've already got them all placed in good homes, so that makes me REALLY happy.

I second that pic thing, Heather! ;) I loooove baby Rotties! Little bear cubs, they are! Soooo cute! :smitten: It will be a good puppy fix for those of us that don't currently have puppy breath in the house!

That's great that you've already found homes for them! I showed Keith these pics and even got a coo out of him. He had a pair of German Rottweilers years ago and his male looked exactly like Kaos. Thank goodness you live so far away. He might have tried to change his "no more dogs" rule. LOL

Haha, well if you guys DID live closer, you can imagine I'd be making you one heck of a deal. Our last pair we bred we sold the puppies for about market price. This litter I am going to sell for less than half of what they are worth (even though this litter is technically better quality dogs), but I know 3 of the people I'm selling them to, and the 4th I'll be visiting their house first :) Yes, I'm an overprotective mommy, but man there are some weirdos out there! Two people we sold puppies to out of our previous litter are getting another one this time ;)

When we had our last litter with our different pair (8 puppies) I refused a guy because I knew he was lying to me about his other dogs as he had bought a male rottweiler from a friend of ours, same lines as our dogs, about 6 months earlier. It would have been our puppies' half brother. With dogs, inbreeding can get pretty serious, and there are VERY few people I would sell my puppies to, knowing they would be bred. Most of the time we work into the contract that they have to be fixed no later than 18 months. The only puppy we have sold, knowing it would be bred was to friends of ours that train and show their dogs. I'm just very uncomfortable selling puppies to people I haven't formed a relationship with. Too many puppies are sold to bad people.

I managed to get some cute shots of a pup. They are HARD to photograph because once you remove them from mommy, wiggle worm is on!

Beautiful Rotties. They do remind me of little bear cubs. My friend had a Rott named Jake, and whenever I would go over their house he would guard me. He would meet me at the gate as soon as I arrived. He wouldn't let their other dog (a vicious little mutt) near me. He would stay by my side the entire time I was there. He must have known the little mutt had it out for me. I miss Jake a lot. He was my bud.

Thanks Ken :) That's a great story.

In my experience with rottweilers, I've NEVER had an aggressive rott. There is a big difference between being protective and being aggressive, people sometimes get that confused.

Both of our males have been VERY protective over our niece and nephews when they would come over. Even when we would all go swimming, they would try and pull the kids out of the water...puncturing their floaties every time!

I have had many breeds of dogs; Labs, Goldens, Huskies, Jindo, but Rottweilers are by far my favorite. There are just so many bad-bred, not health tested dogs out there...it's sad that irresponsible people are ruining such an amazing breed of dog.

Heather, what gorgeous, healthy pups... and mom looks so happy and proud!

Thanks Marcia. She turned out to be a PERFECT mommy. She's so very careful not to step on them, or lay on them when she crawls in with them. She has every chance she wants to leave the box, but she chooses to sleep with them all night long, and cuddle with them most of the day.

I'll be posting more pics in a couple weeks once their eyes are all open :)
