I have to say that the museum of science in Boston has a leo that looks a whole heck of a lot darker / wild caught. Im wondering if the whole Black pearl is just finding very old school not manipulated animals. If there is ever a nifty exhibit at the museum again ill make sure to take a pic of that gecko. Who knows it was years ago i hope its the same animal.

Neill, yes please do take a few pics if you can! I do think there is something to the Black Pearl genetically, but cannot seem to get a straight answer as to what that is from the breeders that have been working with them for a while. I decided to figure it out for myself.

This is a very interesting conversation...

I conjecture that it is another trait that was never linebred for...I also suspect TUG derived their Onyx line from them, but this is just speculation.

I'm approaching dark projects from a melanistic hypo tangerine perspective...I'm a good 2-3 seasons away from the look I want, but I am seeing some results in my F2 generation.

I wonder what would happen if I get the results I want and then outcross to a bold line...

I look forward to more dark projects all around! =D
