(I'm just going to say, i'm a bit biased against evolution so i can't effectivley argue againt this without sounding so.)

Thanks. :) I've taken a few logic courses so i'm sure that helped. I know it probably sounded like i was trolling, but i really wasn't trying to. lol.

So... how do you feel about the theory of gravity? :main_laugh:

Well what i think is they get their heat during the day hiden in rocks because the rocks get heated from the sun and at night they have time to hunt, move around and what not so during the day they can digest their food from the heat from the rocks.... Just my 2 cents

I'm glad I was able to start some interesting discussion. I wanted to post something about the motivation behind my two questions:

brumation: I'm brumating multiple geckos for the first time, mostly since they seem to be brumating themselves and I wanted to make it formal by saving on heat for the period and also having fewer animals to feed since I'll be out of the country for 10 days at the end of the year (needless to say, I wouldn't be doing this only for my own convenience; the geckos are pointing the way this year). At this point I'm cooling my AFT pair, my coleonyx colony and 7 of my 11 adult leos. Even though they aren't hungry for the most part, I do worry about this cooling period and started obsessing over the details like fatty liver disease. This discussion has made me feel better.

lights and heat: After 5 years in the hobby, I have now graduated to the point where I am giving advice more than asking for it. I like to help, but I'm always on guard about continuing to repeat advice without having any clear evidence. The UTH vs. light issue is one I think about a lot. Previously I have been saying: get rid of the lights and get a UTH. At this point I would probably amend that to be "If you're using lights without a UTH and your gecko is not doing well and you've eliminated other possibilities, consider switching to UTH and no lights".

I hope we can all keep checking ourselves to make sure we're not too rigid about the advice we give.
