of giving advice here anymore? its frustrating to give good sound advice and then someone who has no idea what they are talking about will say its completely wrong or whoever asked for the advice ignores it because it is not what they wanted to hear. Whats the point in giving advice anymore? ok rant over....

The point is that for every 10 that don't listen you find a couple that are really interested in learning something, and we have to cherish these small victories.

Well, it's a public forum. People have the right to ask questions and express individual opinions. I see where you are coming from, but keep in mind that this forum is here for people to ask questions and learn. When you get frustrated reading the obvious question threads, just take a break from them for a while and let another member respond.

I'm on official "timeout". It seems that if you leave a comment that someone doesn't want to hear, they turn it into a huge argument and chaos ensues. Next thing you know all of their "friends" post on it tearing you apart as well for having a different opinion. It's just not worth it anymore. After being labeled a "drunk guy" last night, I'm done for a while. When I come back, I will limit my posts to the "show off your leo's" section, as that seems to be the safest. Adios.

I didn't get the impression that she was frustrated with the honest questions.

I read it as a frustration with the people who have no business answering those questions, but who go ahead and do so anyway. Frequently with no apparent sense of accountability for the consequences of what they have said.

lol Chris well its my turn on that thread. Apparently I am an idiot to automatically think when they said they had to cull them they meant kill. Oh and I apparantly do not have the right to ask questions. AM I really stupid or is that what is usually meant on these forums....

Yeah. This forum is full of all kinds. For the most part, it's great, but every once in a while you get the ones who take everything you say all wrong and then it escalates from there. It's no big deal though, eventually their bad attitude and all knowing selfs will go away. Like I said, 99% of the members here are really cool people.

Don't worry though....someday when I rule the gecko world, I will eliminate all the scum suckers in this hobby....MOOOO HAAAA HAAAA!!! Dont worry Seamus, you'll be included in the takeover of the gecko universe!!

I know i havent been apart of this forum for long but i have been apart of a betta forum and fish forum for around 1-2 years now and I know exactly the feeling. People think they know best simply put. When offered advise in a way that indicates that their doing something wrong they go completely defensive. I have been yelled at, rip apart and negged(one of my forum alows you to give or take creidits in posts) to all hell. BUT the one thing that makes me feel its worth it is when someone takes the advise their given and does amazing things with it and thus atleast one person and animal have been helped right? or was that too corny?

Sometimes people post advice when it wasn't asked for and it turns into a big "argument." It happens, these are forums. You can't expect everything to go smoothly from such a diverse group of people.

oh I don't think I am the only one with the correct answer. This rant doesn't have anything to do with being right. It has to do with those that are wrong and the harm it can do among other things.

What irritates me is when people offer advice on a topic they have no real experience in, but since they read it on the internet they think it is fact.

I really hope you didn't think I thought you were stupid about the cull thing. I know I step on toes at times, but I really do try to be helpful. I try to stick to facts as much as possible. I've been guilty of not being perfect, though.
It sucks to be human sometimes. teehee.

I just sometimes find playing devil's advocate irresistible...even if I don't 100% agree with the point of view I'm stating. I try to couch those as "what if" statements, though. Hypotheticals.

I personally think rather highly of you Christina...you've shown that you want to learn and get it right, and seem to know a LOT about how and what you're doing. I think you'll do well in this hobby. I really hope so.

I enjoy doing this too, and sometimes it gets me in trouble.

oh I didn't think you did and thank you for the compliment. I knew there were multiple definitions to the word cull but in this forum I have never seen it used in any other way than when having to kill. I know better now. I do try to learn more and that is why I questioned her. Not because I thought what she was doing was wrong but because I was just trying to learn. When I want to know things I ask. Maybe I shouldn't in some instances. I really hope I will do well as well. I have a true passion for geckos. I have learned a lot from a lot of great people about this hobby. I can only hope to be as good at it. Like you said we are all human and I have shown that today. Not exactly my best side lol

Is this directed at me Kelli? I try to learn from as many sources as possible. I have learned a lot from members on this forum and am very glad I found this forum. I dont just take one source on the internet for fact. I try to find out as much as I can from as many sources as possible. Unfortunately with some things only one source is possible. I try to only give advice when I know something about the topic(which is why you will rarely find me on the breeding, egg incubation or hatchling care forum unless I am asking a question)
