I've been using crickets mostly this year, although sometimes I offer hatchlings mealworms also. I prefer roaches, and have fed Turkish roaches in the past, but lost my source. I plan on starting a colony or two of Dubia soon. I prefer the roaches over crickets because they smell less, don't jump, and don't ruthlessly kill each other. They also have a higher "meat" to chitin ratio than crickets.

I avoid feedind mealworms too much. I know it's common place to leave a bowl full of mealworms available to your leos at all times, but that results in fat geckos, which I don't want.

I use lateralis roaches as my staple diet, they are accepted by all of my bug eaters and have a size range that is similar to crickets. I also use dubia, lobster, and death's head hybrid roaches, along with occasional feedings of superworms, mealworms, and waxworms. I agree with Anthony on overfeeding of worms leading to obesity and limit their use.

i use supers due to the fact that i can keep them at room temp together and not worry about them turning into beetles and theyre easy to gutload this way

I breed Fat Tal Geckos...I ideally want them feeding on Mealworms and Superworms. However, they are picky eaters and I always have to have Crickets and Roaches available.

I also feed primarily turks (Blatta lateralis) with meal worms, supers and dubia thrown in for variety. I really love using turks, as Tony said, they are just about cricket sized, and all of my insect eaters take them quite readily, from the leos to the Uroplatus.

Okay right now I am just feeding mellies because I grow them and I'm getting some super worms in the mail tomarrow so in a like 2+ months when the colony is going good and all I well be feeding mellies and supers and I'll start breeding roachs soon.

I feed Dubia roaches. They are one of the more nutritious feeders for one. They are easy to breed and keep a fully self contained colony, so that makes them one of the more cost effective feeders. And they do not stink like roaches!

I also have a colony of superworms to give the Dubia colony a break once in a while.

I feed Super Worms and mealworms but I hope to get a Dubia colony started soon. But right now I am mostly feeding Supers, they are easy to keep, don't pupate very fast, and I don't have to feed as much. I will give mealies to hatchlings.

Currently I feed mostly dubias, crickets and silkworms; with occasional supers and mealworms. I'm starting a lateralis colony now, when its more established, I'll switch out the crickets.

Mostly mealworms as a staple and then I add some crickets and supers as a variation.

Just a quick question though. Since I converted me leos to mealies they are very finicky about other feeders and about half of the supers and crickets I put in have to be taken out again. Is this also the case with some of you guys that use mealworms as a staple?

As a staple to their diet I use Mealworms, Superworms, and occasional Dubias. I will feed wax worms to females once they drop a clutch...help boost their fat reserves/intake as well as a reward for good eggs :)

i voted mealies!

but i feed both mealies and dubias equally :main_thumbsup:

i have 2 that wont touch mealies only roaches, and the others will eat anything it seams.

I do a mix of meal worms and crickets. I have a whole tub full of beetles breeding right now so I should have alot of meal worms for if I run out of crickets in the near future. Looking into feeding dubias, just need to get some so I can start breeding those as well.

I feed mostly crickets, and have for years. I feed my young AFT hatchlings mealworms soon after they hatch just because they are small and easy for them to eat, but for adults I prefer crickets because of the higher nutritional value of crickets over mealies.

But to keep things interesting for my AFT's, Leos, Cresties, and dragon I periodically offer silkworms, hornworms, phoenix worms, superworms, etc. just so they sometimes have options. But 98% of the time they usually only want crix....

We're using mealies and crickets, with a mealie colony in the early stages of development. I'm trying to work out the logistics on getting some other feeders started, but we're a little space constrained at the moment and don't have many areas we can set up to maintain near-constant temps.
