I don't want this thread to get locked, so please everyone play nice. I am getting my new girl in tomorow. *Can't Wait*. Anyway I have been doing some serious thinking, researching, bugging other members, etc. What would be the best male to start off with. I have had some wonderful suggestions, so I am putting them out there as a poll. Please, again only helpful advice. I know the BP though proven to be genetic, are mucky if this be Co dom or recessive. My girl is 66% possible het for murphy patternless, keep that in mind also. My husband thinks I should forget that and go with white to clean the slate instead of mixing more yellow (patternless) in with the dark because it would only make more brown. Let me know what you all think please.

Personally I wouldn't white it out with any albino strain right off the bat. I'd breed it with a Murphy Patternless, Enigma, Eclipse and maybe Blizzard or any combination of these. Enigma and Eclipse would be my first choices though.

Kendra, honestly, I would not clean any slate until you know exactly how the genetics work...

It really all depends on what you are trying to get out of this project... I would personally go with a bell enigma to try and keep the darker pigment in the albino form... A dark leo with red eyes would kick butt...

Congratulations on your new gecko and good luck...

Wow Gregg,

Knowing how you feel about this project you were so helpful and nice. Do I need to come over and take your temperature?:D J/K I really do appreciate yours and everyones feedback, I respect and trust a lot of the opinions here on this forum, even if I don't always agree with them myself. I just keep second guessing myself on what male to use and it's driving me crazy. Thanks, keep the comments coming.

I'm with Gregg, but would add the Mack Snow gene to it... So I think a MS Bell Enigma is the obvious choice and has the most potential... Don't use a SS Bell Enigma because you're going to want to see both forms... You could make something really cool and come to the false conclusion that the Mack Snow gene was responsible for it... You wouldn't want to release something just to find the non MS babies from that project do the same thing...

Chalk one up for "something else". I'm convinced that a Blizzard, the darker the better, is the very best direction to take a breeding project with this morph. Then work in Eclipse genes as a next step.

A nice even black coloration with Eclipse eyes? Get Outta Town!!!!! :D

Kendra,
Just because I am not crazy about a certain morph, it does not mean I do not want to see a good person succeed in working with it... I really hope you do something crazy with it and I can not imagine anything crazier than a super dark leo with red eyes...:main_thumbsup:

Blizzard would be my first choice in the second season... After you know how the genetics work you can go into the project knowing what to expect...

First of all I think you need to prove her out, and then proceed with whatever else you need to do to PROVE THEIR GENETICS OUT! Even though it is reproducible, someone(Whether its you or somebody else) needs to breed it to something with a clean slate (Maybe a subspecies like a Fasciolatus or an Afghanicus) ;)

:main_thumbsup: I would have to say find the darkest Afghanicus possible.

Personally I think either choice is appropriate as both Subspecies have the potential to be VERY DARK! Although I think the Fasciolatus would bring out the Lavender in the BP ;)

The same can be done with a bell enigma... Breeding it with a sub-species does not mean you are breeding it to a "clean slate"...
A morph can easily be proven out when bred to an albino or dominant morph or both... Kendra will be proving out a morph and be that much ahead of the game... Besides, I think the BP has been bred to enough "clean slates"... Time to see the real potential...

I'd hope to leave the over all look of the black pearl.Hoping to add somthing exsta to the eyes.

Id add the Enigma mainly for Enigma eyes on a dark body.

Black pearl.

Enigma.

= Hopfully in a black body tone with red/Orange eyes.

Or i'd add the Eclipse gene to give black eyes on a black body tone.

Maybe patternless striped would look good also ?.

Breed it to a high speckled dark super snow, or a super snow enigma.
That's what I'm planning on doing when the price comes down.
I don't see why people want to just make albinos, patternless and hypos with black pearls.
The whole point of this morph is that it is the closest thing to a melanistic or all black leopard gecko.
