Not true, mija! For example, you can collect C.variegatus in California, you only need a DFG Fishing License. You can collect several species of reptiles and amphibians... check this out:

Wow! 200k for a huge house in Texas? That sounds awesome! I doubt you would find a house for that price here in SoCal. A decent home in a nice area will run you about 500-600k in these parts. However, there are some beautiful work/live lofts here in San Diego that are starting in the low 400's. They are beautiful and very close to the beach. If I wasn't drowning in law school loans, I would snatch one up!
