Would you be interested in a gecko lottery

The way it would work is.
To enter you would offer up a gecko to sell in the forum of an auction
Everyone who enters would post auction the same day and auction would all end at the same time.
When geckos are paid for money will be paid to Kelli.
All people who enter will have their name put into a lottery and who ever is drawn as the winner can choose a gecko for kelli to purchase for them with all the money that comes from all auctions.
If enought people are interested this will give somone who may not have the chance to own that special high end gecko to recieve somthing really special for putting up a gecko of lesser value.
All rules would have to be worked out at this time the only set rules are #1 Must be 18 years of age or older to play, #2 Winning gecko must be purchased from a site sponsor

i think with a little tweeking this could be an excellent thing. i think a lottery type of system might work better, lets say. buy a "chance" for (this is a completely random number) $20. lets says 20 people buy a chance for $20, that is $400 (kelli hold all monies) when it is time for the random "lottery" drawing done by kelli or one of the other mods, lets say though an online random generator. the persons number who is drawn will get to spend $400 towards a high end gecko from breeders either in the site sponsors, the mods ads or the rotating banner ads. kelli will hold the money and send the money to the breeder who the person that wins choses. i think this might make it easier.

but of course this is just a suggestion.

I think it would be fun either way I was just thinking with geckos it might get the pot up a little higher but just selling chances is great also

some people may not have geckos to auction. thats why i think the lottery type system may work better

What happens if someone were to win and the gecko they want is less than what the total money was. Would they get the extra money?

We would have to work out all the rules and what ifs just trying to see if enough people are interested to work everything out

It's not a form of gambling...people do raffles all the time. That's essentially what this is (if we go with the $20 an entry idea)

umm true. i dont know if this counts but in texas the texas lotto is legal. now i do not know if that applies to other lottos or not. and since it is being held in texas it may be legal. however we would have to look into that.

this is a way for someone to be able to purchase a higher end gecko that they may not be able to afford normally.

What I know is that this is a combination of sorts between a raffle and a lottery. Raffles are done at art shows, malls, car dealerships, church banquets, etc. And the lottery is played by nearly all states. What's the harm, here? Do we have any lawyers/police officers on the forum that can check into this for us?

2. what do you assume is going to happen to the animal once it's received by its new owner?

Not only would this raffle be a good way for different breeders to get some business on their more expensive Leos, this would also give someone a chance to have a higher end Leo that they may not have been able to afford without the extra help from their winnings.

What's the big deal?
