Cut and pasted from their page:

April through November:
We are now offering a monthly shipment to Canada during the months of April through November. Purchase a minimum of $500 worth of reptiles and get your order shipped for $100. Or, buy 5 geckos or less totaling $1500 and get your order shipped free!! Please contact us for details regarding this option.

December through March:
During these months, Canada deliveries are restricted to reptile show pick ups (as detailed below), or airport to airport delivery due to weather. Please call for a price quote during these months.

Even if they do ship to Canada, we don't know if the total will be anywhere near as high as $600 (the minimum).

I asked Thad at OhioGecko a while ago if they can ship to Canada, and he said could, but it would probably be around be $300 for 1 to 50 geckos.

This sounds really good, I would certainly participate.

In the earlier posts everyone keeps mentioning Leos, so my question is if the winner wanted to purchase an AFT instead, would that be ok too? Does this go for any kind of gecko within the allotted amount?

This was mentionned before, I believe that as long as the seller is a site sponsor you can order, practically anything they have up for sale, weither it be leos, fatties, or corns (etc)...Here are the quotes:

I'd be game for it. Sounds fun, and a good way for somebody to get a nice gecko. Just for leos, though????

site sponsors, gecko forums staff websites (located down at the bottom of the page) and the banner ad advertisers. so spend it on what those people have available.

I do like this idea but I think that it should start out lower! $20 dollars may not be that much but if more then 20 go in on it then that will be 400+ dollars. Most of the geckos I like are much less then that.

A trial should be done at a lower cost in order to see if this will actually work and to see if any kinks need to be worked out. This will help see how many people WILL do it not say they will. You would have a better idea of how to divide up the money based on the success of the trial. If more people join in then there could be several winners since there would be more money, maybe a 1st 2nd and 3rd place.

Also if someone from out of the US wants to join in on this then they could possibly use a breeder in that country or buy supplies with the money. Heck, a money order or something could be sent to them if they win and couldn't purchase something and have it shipped to them.

so what happens if someone posts up a gecko that is worth $600 and only $400 is earned in raffle tickets? Does the person raffling the gecko hold the rights to extend the period of which tickets can be bought? Do they hold the rights to switch the gecko for a less valuable one?

I feel that this would be a great idea for a show, but i feel a little weary about online results. how will the selection be made? How will we know that the selection was really drawn at random and not poised from some sort of favoritism?

Another thing is, I dont know about you all, but i can't afford throwing in $20 here and there at a chance to win something. 18 credit hours prevents me from working a lot.

I think the idea is, the winning person would be able to choose a gecko from one of the site sponsors with the raffle money...

I think 5-10$ would be a better for a first run / trial raffle. If 20 people purchased 'tickets' that'd be 100-200$ for just 1 ticket bought. If done as a traditional raffle, people could purchase more than one ticket I would assume? This would increase their chances of pulling a winning ticket, but they'd also have to pay more to do so, while someone who put in for only one 5/10$ ticket would have much less chance of pulling the winning ticket but also not be out as much. This causes a solid balance and you end up with a decent pool of cash..

Also, I don't see why the money would be limited to just 1 leo? Some people only sale certain ones as pairs.. this would let folks get a small group that they'd had their eye on but were lacking the funds to purchase.

Sounds interesting to me. In regards to gambling, however, you might have to check the rules. There are ways, obviously, to hold drawings to win a prize. Maybe it has something to do with showing the gecko first and letting people by tickets to win it? I don't know, I just know drawings are legal if they meet the correct criteria :) However, depending on when it took place (whether kids are home on break, or away at college - LOL) I would be interested in trying for a high end :)

If you get a chance in the drawing "free" with your purchase of something, is it still raffle/gambling since you didn't actually pay for the chance? ;) Semantics, but that is often how people get around obstacles. Its not like it would be an organized gecko crime ring, just a fun thing for forum participants.

I think I'd buy, say a "custom forum title" or a "gold membership" or something like that if I got a Free chance to win, all for $10-20.

:)
