Alright, alright let's bring it down a notch. I don't go for either team but that doesn't mean I won't watch them. Every single team in any sport has their pros and cons. The NFL, NBA, MLB, Boxing and even the Olympics has scandals. There's not much we can do. We still watch and attend the games.

I'm not a Manning fan but if the Giants win it's just another different team that won the SB.

If the Patriots win, they'll be the next undefeated team to win it all and become more of a dynasty than they already are.

If you're not a fan of either team, just watch and enjoy the commercials and wait till next year like me.:main_laugh:

every team has off the field issues the fact is your giving these guys millions of dollars and some fame and most of them cannot handle both of those things and be a perfect lil angel.

Reminds me of when Urlacher first came out of college. A blue collar guy who had a nice family. Now he's divorced and has another child with that one lady (can't remember the name but she has other children from different players) and paying child support just like countless other players from different leagues. None of that shouldn't matter to us. It's what they do on the field that counts.

Favre was critiziced years ago for allegedly being hooked on pain killers. He's still going to be the best QB ever.

Michael Jordan was mocked and ridiculed because of his gambling problems. It's his money, he can do what he wants.

Let's just watch the games and have some fun!:main_thumbsup:

i hate the patriots. sure they're 18-0* but they got caught cheating. bellicheat got fined $500k which he promptly got back when kraft (aka mr. moneybags) offered him a new contract extension and the team lost their first round pick (with goodell fully knowing that they had an extra from the hapless 49ers which would no doubt be higher than their original selection anyway)

plus they have:

- an adulterer for a coach (not to mention that he cheats at football and is a complete jerk to the media at all times)
- a womanizing, purse carrying, prettyboy quarterback with an illegitimate kid
- a pair of pothead wideouts (one of which has a lawsuit pending over beating a woman)
- an hgh using safety who is voted year in and year out the league's dirtiest player but was magically reinstated after four games
- a defensive tackle who has been fined three separate times this year alone without being suspended a single game
- another defensive lineman who never gets called for all the cheap shots he dishes out (knocked rivers on his rear after one play right in front of the ref and just got the 'oooh, you better not do that again mister or i'll penalize you' routine)
- a linebacker who is revered as a hero because he had a stroke in his 30's and came back to play (newsflash: there's no way a healthy 30-somthing, let alone an nfl player just has a stroke. maybe it has something to do with the 'roids and coke)
- '91' decals on their helmets all season honoring a backup defensive lineman who drowned this summer, but when sean taylor was murdered they took that decal off after one week
- and let's not forget all those 65-3 blowouts where brady played all but a handful of plays and went back in if the other team scored to cut the lead to less than 6 touchdowns
Sounds like a lot of sour grapes to me and hardly worthy of any comment but I will point out that Tedy Bruschi was a "hero" to New England fans long before he had a stroke. The etiology of his stroke was a patent foramen ovale, essenially a hole in the heart between the two upper chambers or atria. The foramen ovale is present and open (patent) in all of us before birth to shunt blood from the right side if the heart to the left as there is no need for large amounts of blood flow to the lungs in utero. The placenta takes care of gas exchange during that time. After birth, as left sided pressures rise, the foramen ovale is pushed closed and generally seals up. In a small percentage of individuals it stays open and is a sources of turbulence and clot formation. Those clots can embolize to the brain and cause a stroke. That's what happened in the case of Tedy Bruschi. He had his heart problem repaired, he rehabilitated himself from a devastating neurological event and deficit, and he came back, making him a folk hero of sorts. But his performance was stellar before that, and since (he led the team in total and individual tackles this year). I don't think there has ever been any credible accusation that he used steroids or cocaine, just wackos on the net who have no medical degrees making assumptions without bothering to look at the facts.

as for the crack on brady, who cares? you just described tony romo minus the kid, but what does all that have to do with him playing football for the patriots?

This would be a good arguement yes. But the media ripped on Romo far far more than they ever mentioned Brady's fling. And Brady even had a kid involved too and they brush it off as no big deal, which really it isn't but its just the fact that the utterly ripped on Romo and left out the "Golden Boy*" that pissed me off about it.

As true as that may be, it has absolutely no importance when arguing if the Pats deserve the undefeated record. You can all hate whoever you want for whatever reasons, but that doesnt mean the Pats are terrible cheaters and deserve an * next to their record.

really theres probably alot of players that have had flings and have kids from it, but you dont hear about them either at least tom bradys made the news for a little bit. i agree the media did rip on romo more then they should have but that goes back to my statement in my earlier post regarding bills jerk like attitude toward them and how the media just sucks. with that said i think the reasons romo got ripped so bad are:
1) hes the qb of the cowboys "america's team" so he's automatically under more scrutiny b/c of what team he's on.
2) the media thinks he hasnt proven himself enough to be living the lifestyle he is(this goes back to #1 if you ask me), brady may do some of the same stuff but isnt as criticized maybe b/c he has proven himself in the playoffs in the past and romo hasnt even started 2 full seasons or won a playoff game for that matter.

the cowboys are america's team yet the patriots comprise 80% of any espn broadcast?
catch vrable's leg whip against the chargers, by the way? interesting non-call on that one, especially when sliding or being knocked into a qb's feet is considered roughing the passer now. as far as i'm concerned everything the patriots have accomplished since the "tuck rule" fiasco is tainted.

sorry your bitter the steelers didnt make the playoffs.....

espn broadcast i assume your not talking about games since they only do mnf...they probly have gotten all that broadcast this year b/c of their record yes but every show on espn ive watched talks equally about the cowboys albeit mostly bashing them for something they did that really isnt a big deal.

you talk about a leg whip and all these cheap shots like the patriots are the only ones doing it..its football, these things have been going on for decades and they happen ALOT at any level.

your right those are considered roughing the passer but neither of those happened...rivers was yapping his jaw after the play was over probly about his boyfriend LT sittin over on the bench and seymour brushed him off with his arm. not necessary but clearly rivers was faking the fall, i mean lets think this out logically...rivers weighs about 230 pretty strong obviously, i dont think he's going to go flying backwards from a nudge from anybody. also given that it was rivers i think they played into the refs mind too had manning or favre or somebody with a better reputation done that they probly would have gotten a penalty drawn.

i dont see why you would say everything from that point is tainted but you can say whatever you want. the fact is they havent lost yet THIS SEASON regardless of what they were accused of they have made plays when they needed to and have come back when behind in games so i dont think any of that really matters.

the steelers did make the playoffs, actually, they lost to jacksonville at home in the wildcard after coming back from a huge deficit in the fourth quarter. typical pats fan, ignorant of the entire rest of the league. it's upsetting that such an uninformed "fan base" is rewarded by having their team served up the lombardi on a silver platter year in and year out just because the big wigs and their accountants think it will be good for the league if they can sell more tom brady jerseys.

sorry i forgot 1 of the wildcard teams oops. im far from ignorant in any sense especially of the rest of the nfl. im just as informed as you thanks. And since you want to bring the big wigs and accountants into it lets go ahead and do that. What does the pats winning do for the "big wigs" and accountants? Selling tom brady jerseys makes them no more then LT jerseys or any other of the star players so that thought is just ridiculous. They win out regardless of who wins b/c thats their job to make money, in fact they would be better off if a team like the giants won the trophy b/c ny is a bigger market then boston. Maybe this year they are benefiting b/c of the undefeated record but if your talking year after year then why dont they win it every year? or just go undefeated every year? why dont they just hand them the trophy @ training camp? nothing is given on a silver platter to ANY team or player. Look at peyton manning or brett favre 2 of the better qb's in the league and manning just won his 1st superbowl and favre has been absent from the nfc championship for what 9 years i think b4 this year. its obvious you dont like the patriots but it sounds like you think theres some kind of conspiracy which to say the least is ludicrous

I personally think that there are many fans who unfortunately have to find something negative to say about a championship game if their team isn't playing in it. When the White Sox won the World Series, I had to hear it from so many Angels, Astros and even Cubs fans on how AJ Pierzynski cheated. That the White Sox don't deserve the trophy because that.

A true fan of a sport watches the games without much scrutiny. If your team is in the playoffs, Great. If they're not or if they got bumped off, don't sulk and find something negative to make yourself feel better. Wait till next year like me.:D I'm a die hard Bears and White Sox fan and enjoy watching them win or lose. In the end it's only sports entertainment.

i'm not finding something bad to say about the patriots because the steelers aren't in the superbowl, i just can't stand the smugness and arrogance that belicheat and the patriots exude and all the bandwagon fans who know nothing about football outside of the fact that they think guys in pats uniforms are the greatest thing since sliced bread and can do no wrong. even if the patriots weren't in the title game i would still hate everything about the way that franchise conducts itself and weasels its way through every loophole it can find. as a bears fan you can't tell me that if the packers were caught cheating and were perfect heading into the superbowl you'd be rooting for them to make history and dismissing their actions. the steelers and patriots are an emerging rivalry to most of steeler nation, of course i'm going to root against them, especially since all their indiscretions go largely ignored by espn (based out of bristol connecticut, what a coincidence) and the rest of the sports world.

let's go giants.

I wouldn't be a true Bears fan if I rooted for the Pack now would I?;) I don't like the Packers but I do think Favre is the best ever.

As for the Patriots, yeah they cheated and they got caught doing it. It really does make you wonder how long they have been doing it as well.

The thing is there isn't much we can do about it. Let the Pats fans say what they want. If they win so be it, no skin off your bones. They weren't your team anyway. If they lose, smile.

couldnt agree more. i watch every team in every sport that i watch(pretty much anything but hockey) with no hatred towards any team. Only maybe a little towards ohio st. football but thats neither here nor there. its pointless to hate a team so much and bring up cheap shots that they took in games...listen to strahans quotes about the patriots being dirty. what they do is no different then what any other team does. as for "spygate" yea they broke the rules, is that what you wanted? But can you guarantee that no other team is doing that or was doing that prior to this happening? And do you really think no other teams are breaking rules?

please enlighten me as to these indiscretions that you speak of?

wilforks 3 fines?
Belichick having an affair(not even relevant to football)?
tom brady having an illegitimate kid(also not relevant to football)?
harrison getting suspended for hgh?
moss and his "bad boy past"?
spygate?

wouldn't it be ironic if the guy who has been on the injury report for the longest consecutive stretch ever (brady. 60+ weeks and counting as "questionable") without actually missing time had to miss the superbowl? not that it will happen, of course, but that would definitely be what i call karma. knowing brady though he's probably just practicing his acting skills for his role in brokeback mountain 2

I don't want the pats to win. I want the giants to win but not because they cheated or anything pfft. I think the reason people don't like the pats is because they are the 'best' this season. They got caught cheating what last year, two years ago? Are you going to hold it against them for the next 50 years? Sure they cheated then. I'm sure ever since that they have been keeping and eye on the pats to see if any other cheating occurs. By no means am I a pats fan but they cheated boo hoo get over it this is a new season.

Last week I still can't belive green bay lost, though farve was going to make superbowl. Farve just couldn't pull it together.

actually it was this season that they got caught, week one against the jets, but there was evidence of it stretching much farther back as well. and the nfl commissioner, in his infinite wisdom, destroyed said evidence "so they would know if any new tapes came out that they were either hidden or a new occurrence."
